The lack of depth in the program is fairly significant

Add in players portaling and the crater that forms if they leave

I think most have been way too high with what things looked like had none of the upheaval happened

Buckle up … time to build this from the ground up

    "People need to understand this"

What part of this board-wide meltdown makes you think people aren't understanding this? It's literally all we're talking about.
People kept thinking that this program was winning 9 to 10 games next year with a QB that everybody was projecting as Penix (he wasn't) and the same depth gaps on the roster that were never filled in the 2021 and 2022 classes. This idea that they'd just keep adding in the 2nd portal window was more pipe dream than reality as those leaving in that cycle are typically those realizing that they aren't going to play and dropping levels than being people that you want playing at Washington.

2024 for this program is as follows:

    - Keep as much talent as possible that has entered the portal and keep (might be able to keep 1/2 to 2/3 of what is in currently at best)

    - Get whatever you can from Arizona (most likely going to be those that were in this year's recruiting class and players with multiple years of eligibility vs those with 1 year and the ability to go to the NFL after this year)

    - Develop players on this year's roster and give them the opportunity to play and get better over the course of the season to figure out who can and can't be part of the solution going forward

    - Recruit like mad and sign what could/should be the largest HS class in the history of UW football

    - Attack the portal for the 2025 season

How anybody thinks that this team has a 8-10 win ceiling in 2024 returning 2 starters (at this point) TOTAL by backfilling around the portal is delusional

    Enjoy the 2023 journey

Be smart with the money in 2024 and keep the powder relatively dry

Position yourself to be good in 2025 and 2026
Sounds like next year 3 is going to be speshul.

Not a single person thought this, let alone projected it.

Do you ever post anything other than reasons why we are going to suck and excuses for that suckage?
Take your 97 posts and shove them up your ass

    You couldn't be more inaccurate
    Hurtful.

The shoving 97 posts in the ass, not the poast.

Saw plenty of people talking about how Rogers was an undervalued asset like Penix and that when you put him in the DeBoer/Grubb offense that he'd be able to step in and perform at a high enough level to just keep things going

Best case was that he was going to be an 80-90% version of Penix

Worst case was that he was going to be a statue and that Mack was going to get the job coming out of the bye

It would be interesting to know more about NIL payments/contracts. Did Rogers and other players that transferred and enrolled cash in on any NIL promises, and now with the dirty Dutchman bailing they can cash in again somewhere else? I’m curious how much money DB cost montlake futures in wasted deals.

Assuming nobody transferred out and what happened at RB, the offense had a chance to still be very good. The wr's and oline were still looking good overall. Not the level of this year, but enough to win 8-9 games with no major injuries.

The defense was thin for sure and a concern. That was just winning 5 or 6 games in conference which is not that hard for a coaching staff that has proven to be masterful with the passing game.

Now obviously, all bets are off.

If KDB thinks that this UW class will be accepted as the backfill to what is leaving Alabama ... he won't make it 2 years there
He knows this was his one shot at his mountain top, but I have a hard time believing he’s gonna be the guy that replaces Saban long term. O/U set at 3 yrs.

See. There was me being much more inaccurate.

No one I saw explicitly said that, but there’s been a lot of dooging going on, and people saying there was no reason why we shouldn’t win 10 games next year. Numerous people jumped down @PostGameOrangeSlices’ throat when he suggested we were looking at an 8 win season next year. At this point, we’ll be damn lucky to make a bowl game unless we steal all of Arizona’s best players.
