Will be 7 coaches in 23 years. Yuck
-
Put bigger buyout clauses on all the various coaches contracts. UW will make a fortune.

He's not, but it's easier said than done in the 21st century.pawz said:He’s not wrong.
3 coaches in 10 years. But, two final fours and a title appearance.
Is flash in the pan better than perpetual 7-5? Yes -
Sounds MAGA

First off, no one wanted to poach Stanback’s coaches. And most of the instability is shitty hires.PostGameOrangeSlices said:

Not burned out and flexible Pete here for 15 years could have been cool. -
He actually kind of said nothing though. It was 3 minutes of ranting and questioning his fanhood. Send him an invite!
-
As much as I want to blame the school, they’ve been poached by Alabama and USC 3 times in 11 years. Everyone else he mentioned was just shitty at their job or burnt out like pretty much everyone in every job.

Texas poached Pete K also. Bit of a different situation, but still.

I love Isaiah. I laughed when he said "everybody says we're going to be alright". He's obviously not lurking here!DoogmanRefund said:He actually kind of said nothing though. It was 3 minutes of ranting and questioning his fanhood. Send him an invite!
I was at a book signing in Bellevue Square for my Willingham book. Isaiah and his fiance' came up to me and bought a couple copies. His fiance' was like "It's high time people find out all that Willingham did!" -
Right, I was thinking HCDoogmanRefund said:

Still speaks to what Stanback was saying though, if we were serious about football this wouldn't keep happening
He also had a point about petersen who I agree would have been exponentially more likely to stay with more support from upper campus
It's a systemic problem, not just meanies at usc/Alabama
Oregon squashed the Lanning shit instantly, we didn't -
Doing a good deep dive on what you’re doing is prudent from time to time
There’s truth in what he’s saying to some level
Some is also just plain bad decisions and bad luck -
Kenny james was my probation officer, as soon as I recognized who he was he couldn't stop gushing about his disdain for WillinghamDerekJohnson said:

Losing Willingham, Sark, and Gilbertson were fucking blessings. losing Petersen was a retirement decision. Losing DeBoer was the only relative surprise. Fuck Cohen and who cares. Otherwise his video is spot on. I guess.
-
I vote for Stanback to be the next HC. Go in, clean house, and stay for a long time.

In his rambling (NTTAWWT, I sometimes do the same meandering, stream of consciousness, thinking aloud too) if you're able to pan for the nuggets of truth, I think his real issue is our hiring process is broken.LawDawg1 said:Losing Willingham, Sark, and Gilbertson were fucking blessings. losing Petersen was a retirement decision. I'm getting frustrated with the revolving door around here too, but to dovetail with everything we've been saying about our school being Stepping Stone U, maybe it's time to embrace it. Moneyball this shit. We're the Oakland As now.
I have no idea what that looks like, but you have to get these diamonds in the rough that are hungry for their first head coaching on the cheap and say, "you'll get yours if you stay, but understand you'll pay for it dearly in buyouts if you LEAVE!" -
Its the Seattle culture. People don't give a fuck about football here, and in a lot of cases actively despise it. It isn't ever gonna change.
-
His loser attitude is the fucking problem. Already resigned to playing second fiddle to “the South.” That’s a loser fucking mindset.jecornel said:
Do you think Michigan, Ohio St, USC, and even fucking whOregon have that attitude? Nope.
So you and your low expectations are the fucking problem.
Fuck you Stanbach. Shitty QB and just like Locker, should have been a Safety.

Brilliant idea dude, hire young unproven coaches with huge buyouts, what can go wrong!Doog_de_Jour said:

Maybe signing a young unproven whelp with a huge buyout isn't a brilliant idea in case he is fucking trash and we need to move on
We were just in the natty, we don't need a diamond in the rough stop being a pussy and demand more from the program

Are you aware of this thing called the Seahawks?PatsDoog said:Its the Seattle culture. People don't give a fuck about football here, and in a lot of cases actively despise it. It isn't ever gonna change.

Good point, they call it the 12th man because nobody gives a fuck about football, brilliantPatsDoog said:Its the Seattle culture. People don't give a fuck about football here, and in a lot of cases actively despise it. It isn't ever gonna change.
The issue for UW is that seattle isn't a college town, no shit uw doesn't dominate media in seattle, why don't we garner attention like Eugene or Tuscaloosa or ann arbor or Gainesville or do you get the point? -
-
I probably should have clarified *college* football. I think its more of a case of academic snobbery and hatred of the university spending money on collegiate athletics than anything, since there are conflicting interests there unlike the media monster that is the NFL. I could have worded it a lot better, I'll admit.Quietcowskee said:

you worded it a lot better than I did, that was what I was trying to get across.bigcc said:

The UW fucking loved all the attention they got this year. And the money that came with it.PatsDoog said:

Even moreso than when their Covid models were embarrassingly wrong on cable TV 99% of the time in 2020.
