This. ASU, OSU, and Apple Cup really screwed him stats wise. If he’d lit up Cuog and Oregon, I think he still could have pulled it out, but the Apple cup stinker was the end of the Heisman.chuck said:

Next year someone on a lesser national spotlight team will have insane stats and someone on Bama/Georgia will have a season like Penix and then it will be about the best player on the team that won, not the stats.

Penix is the greatest Husky of all time. His jacket was the clincher for me and recognizing he wouldn’t have been there tonight without his teammates. This year has been unreal. The team genuinely seems super tight knit. That’s not easy to accomplish these days. It takes tremendous leadership, commitment and discipline.
No question this is one of most special seasons and there still more to accomplish.

but for me it was the 3rd and 3, throw a bullet to Rome in Beavlet's eye that will always stand out.
That and the TD to Culp against USC.
