Oregon is in a nice self-contained bubble transitive property wise. Our only loss is to undefeated Washington, who only we have the opportunity to beat.
On the other hand, Alabama lost to Texas, which lost to Oklahoma, which lost to both Oklahoma State and Kansas. Oklahoma State lost 33-7 to South Alabama. So the transitive property gets quite bad for Texas and Alabama. This is why Oregon is correctly ranked ahead of UT and Alabama.
It gets even worse if you consider close wins. Oregon’s only close win was over Texas Tech. Texas has close wins over Houston, TCU and Kansas State. Alabama has close wins over Texas A&M, Arkansas and Auburn. Therefore, Texas and Alabama both have 3 close wins, while Oregon only has one.
Furthermore, Oregon’s win over Texas Tech was a legitimate close win where the Ducks made the right plays at the right time to win the game. To be fair, Texas’ wins over TCU and Houston and Alabama’s wins over aTm and Arkansas are also legitimate close wins. But Texas “beat” Kansas State because Kansas State missed a PAT and 25 yard field goal, and Alabama “beat” Auburn because Auburn rushed 2 and left one guy standing around as a spy on 4th and 31. Kansas State vs Texas should honestly be considered a loss for both Kansas State and Texas, and Alabama vs Auburn should honestly be considered a loss for both Auburn and Alabama. Yes, you can consider the team that makes the boneheaded play to have lost the game, but why should you consider the team that benefits from boneheaded plays to have won the game? It’s not like the team won because of anything good they did.

Oregon has looked dominate. Texas has been winning games like Washington and they have a loss. Alabama lost to Texas.
Alabama has a Texas ceiling, and Texas has the eye test ceiling. Oregon doesn’t have an issue other than winning Friday. Which will be a challenge in of itself.
What’s the point of worrying about something you can’t do anything about?
