Hugh says Grubb was out coached by the coug D

As this board has been saying for weeks chucking deep to the sidelines is gonna make your life very difficult.

Except for the crucial drive at the end where we caught them flat footed then kicked a FG for the win. Cougs gonna coug.

Everyone knows Hugh doesn’t always get it right. He does himself a sluggo route.
-
But you can't see what Hugh sees. He's looking at the all-22, and he will remind you of that.

Chucking isn't really as difficult as I make it look.DucksFC said: -
Grubb's biggest weakness is that his default is to whore himself out to the explosive ...
It's not that he can't be patient (there have been instances this year where that was clearly the approach) ... but it usually isn't something he pivots to very well in the middle of a game. -
Is Hugh still mad that UW's prior coaching staff didn't think his kid was a P5 caliber QB?
BTW, anybody catch Grubb's comment in the presser that WSU had some of our play call signals in the game? -
In the first half, so the offense was more effective when they knew what was coming.HairyBallsDawg said:Is Hugh still mad that UW's prior coaching staff didn't think his kid was a P5 caliber QB?

For as much as people railed on Dickert for being a pussy, Grubb did his best impersonation today. -
he is counting his bank accountTequilla said:Grubb's biggest weakness is that his default is to whore himself out to the explosive ...

I don't know why he'd be mad. That staff sucked at quarterbacks.HairyBallsDawg said:Is Hugh still mad that UW's prior coaching staff didn't think his kid was a P5 caliber QB?

No, what exactly did Grubb say?HairyBallsDawg said:Is Hugh still mad that UW's prior coaching staff didn't think his kid was a P5 caliber QB?

https://x.com/mikevorel/status/1729227656301093006?s=20UW OC Ryan Grubb says "I know Washington State had gotten some of our calls and signals." They figured that out during the game, he added. Said he doesn't have a problem with it, but they'll make adjustments this week.

Still doesn't know how to use the 1.5 NFL tight ends on offense either.Tequilla said:Grubb's biggest weakness is that his default is to whore himself out to the explosive ...

The one designed play to Westy was successful and would have gone a long ways had Penix not turned it into a circus catch. -
Hugh’s right
-
2 NFL tackles, NFL RB, NFL QB, NFL blocking TE, two NFL receivers, Westy who could probably find his way onto a squad nothing should be slowing down this offense.
Not to mention Brailsford likely playing his way to the NFL. Buelow probably gets a shot at the next level.
Time to roll. -
Theory: spending too much time plotting next summer’s family vacation murder instead of sleeping in his office.
-
Ever since the Oregon game, it seems like Grubb has been trying to win the Heisman
-
Westy might be a better pro. Too bad grubb can’t get his head out of his assjecornel said:2 NFL tackles, NFL RB, NFL QB, NFL blocking TE, two NFL receivers, Westy who could probably find his way onto a squad nothing should be slowing down this offense.

If we're bashing Hugh I'm out
Wish he was still on the honks -

Well, hopefully he'll realize that ship sailed and get back to trying to win games in whatever way is most effective.HuskyJW said:Ever since the Oregon game, it seems like Grubb has been trying to win the Heisman

Penix's strike point in the first 6 games was unbelievable. Do you really think it's playcalling? The back shoulder pass to Odunze in one-on-on is 100% if the strike point is right. It just seems like Penix hasn't been as accurate.EsophagealFeces said:

It’s pain tolerance impacting his accuracy.bisonduck said:

These guys have huge egos, got to where they are by never backing down, and have had success. Every play they call is a touchdown, in their minds. We have seen it up close, Leach, Chip, Shaw on the reverse end of it. Shaw didn't care if you stacked the box. Leach didn't care if you dropped 8. Chip is Chip, stop us, or don't. An elite, well-rounded OC (or play caller) needs to plan for every scenario. At this point of the season, you've gotta have a counter punch, or you get knocked out...
"We" have been clamoring for weeks (months?) for more TE, DJ out of the backfield, McMillan (or someone) on the crossers underneath...The time is NOW, the place is HERE...(Well, we're waiting gif)
The antidote to this offense is DBs that can play man, and a D-line that can hold LOS. That is where the "healthy" Penix being able to shoot lasers into widows is the separator. How many "elite" defenses are out there?. Unfortunately, they are all potential opponents moving forward...
If I'm defending it, I am taking Rome out of it, to the best of my ability, and make the other guysm beat me... -

Like Uncle Bo.
Presumption of correctness. -
Yep, if the Ducks run as much man defense as others are saying (I'm too lazy to look it up), they should bracket Rome or at least roll coverage towards him. On certain plays, they may even want to bracket McMillan too (I expect him to be fully healthy in mind / body). I'd even rush 3 at times to use 2 guys on Rome and 2 guys on McMillan, and then have the other 4 cover Polk, Westover, DJ, and whoever else is the other receiver (Bernard or Culp).Fishpo31 said:These guys have huge egos, got to where they are by never backing down, and have had success. Polk has had the dropsies and Culp is prone to them so hurt me gong to them before I have to change it up.
In a way, it's the same thing with Oregon and Tony Franklin (except I'd rather have Rome than Franklin). -
Penix owes Westy the car of his choice for all the degree of difficulty 10's that Jack has caught from him with at least 4-6 in crucial and or 4th down conversions.UW_Doog_Bot said:
