Isn't it interesting how visible she has become with DeBoer here but under Lake and Pete she wasn't really visible at all? (from a football perspective)

I think the stark reality that football revenues could crash and take down the entire AD including our beloved women's softball fixed some heads in upper campus.

You've got the windfalls from the Pete Era bumping revenues. Then you have a fall-off and then the crash from Covid, followed by the very real possibility of TV revenue drying up. I'm sure there were some very real come to God meetings had.

Upper Campus attitudes may be more focused on "equity in sports" than winning but very few want to see the outright demise of the colleges athletics department.

Combine that with all the FREE PUB for the university and someone in leadership realized they could ride that train.
I buy this way more than that the she loves football takes I've seen on here. Constantly.
She runs a massive business and in leadership of that size they are all mostly some level of narcissist ready to self promote.

There's a bottom line to saving a massive chunk of your school's brand, money, and revenues.

I think she probably does *like* the football program but let's not conflate what some of the most likely drivers of this recent turn around are with being Gooble goble gooble goble ONE OF US.

Don't get it twisted though, I'll take a stone blooded @creepycoug killer playing the politics that need to be played over a shits gold and pisses purple Jen Cohen "I took a picture with Don James" or worse a Suzzallo "let me run off the all time most successful coach" upper campus.

The morons that run UW realized that Football program is the cash cow and can not afford to fuck it up like they did with Larry Scott. Otherwise might as well close all other athletic programs

Going to sunny LA for a game is way more fun than trying to defend Hamas supporters.

Perfect Cuban scene. This is when Frank sends 2 hit men after Tony and ends with Tony marrying Elvira and running his own cocaine empire.

It’s a nice parallel to AMC taking over the B1G negotiations, Jen leaving, etc.

Can’t Chin enough. Ding, ding, ding. It’s this. Running an athletic department in the black for five years under the success of Pete followed by almost immediate apathy from your fan base after Covid lockouts, the Montana debacle and 4-8. All of a sudden you’re whole athletic department is in crisis. Everyone involved in upper campus watched in real time how the fortunes of a barbarian sport drug your AD out of the red in 2016 and immediately plunged you back in after 2021. Invest heavily and make “football decisions” or everything withers and dies. I’d guess AMC has been a football president since the end of 2021 when the financials came in. She was up on the balcony of club Husky last year during Stanford wanting fans on their feet and cheering on the Dawgs. I’d never seen her before that moment and UW was still an unknown quantity to everyone at that point in DeBoers run. She bought in because she absolutely had to.
Don't forget, thinking all of that doesn't matter bc your coming up on a monster TV deal that will bail you out but instead getting marooned USC/UCLA in a conference that can't get a deal with a network carrier.

Reality came at them fast and fucked if you think Leopard print had shit for an idea of what to do. Thank God for a cut throat Cubana that's willing to do the salsa with Harry the Racoon.
