UW players are buying what their coaches are selling. USC's? Not so much.

On the other hand, we gave 42 points, 515 yards and 7.9 yards per carry

Grinds your gears this team is good. Go to a game and get off your screen.

Is USC DL bad? Or UW OL improved? Not sure what to think of the OL play this past week after the shit play for the prior two weeks
  • If we just play USC defense each year we will have an average run game!

Te action and screen plays will slow down an aggressive rush and make an OL look better.

Kinda what this boared was screaming for for 2 weeks.

I guess it took Grub two weeks to get his reads down

Disagree a bit on Grubbs play calling. That int on the first drive of the second half drove me crazy.

That was another fuck up imo, you don’t let Penix even have the option of that throw. Had a chance to end the game right there with a few more handoffs and safe passes.

That was shades of Arizona and Oregon where you’re wasting drives with “kill shots” when you have big time momentum and just need to move the ball a bit more conservatively.
The play call wasn't the issue, it looked like Penix had already made his mind up that he was going to throw to Westover before the snap of the ball. He had the time to go to his 2nd or 3rd read on that play.

Once in a 1980s Apple Cup, Chris Chandler was under center and UW was on about the Cuog 15-yard line. Chandler then stood up and turned to look to the sideline. He then started walking and put his hands out like he was totally confused and had called a time out and was going to go talk to coach James. The Cougar defenders all stood up and relaxed. Nothing ever happened and then UW called a time out.

After the game it was revealed that Chandler was technically in motion and the ball was supposed to be snapped directly to the UW running back.

Years later I asked Coach James about it and he laughed and said, "our center was supposed to snap the ball. But he froze up for some reason and never did it."
    For shame Bern Brostek.

    Parker Brailsford would never.

Hell of a play by him and the db. USC has talented freaks they just underachieve. Same as always.
The DB was in such a bad position that he was able to pick it off. Westy had him by 2 steps.

Yeah he was beat. The throw looked on target. It's one of the only times I can remember where Penix didn't have the perfect combo of arc and zip on a pass like that. He just underestimated that dude's reach.

It was somewhat similarly painful to the ASU end zone pick where a guy who was covering nobody got a tip and a guy who was beat was able to get the pick because he was beat. The Oregon pick was similar where Odunze slipped so a guy who was probably in the wrong spot was standing there to get an int.
