All year, we have no concerns leaving a garage door open or having something valuable out front for awhile. Nobody here is going to take anything. The only exception is Halloween. That's when people who don't live in this area come here and several items are taken from homes in our neighborhood.

I think you are correct. Theft is so prevalent these days its crazy. Even here in northern Idaho theft became a problem. When the low minded see people getting away with things they join in. I was trick or treating overage in 1993. This was in a very nice area. There were 2 or 3 punk kids who clearly weren't from the neighborhood. You've imported a large chunk of the 3rd world into this country over the last 30 years. We are no longer a high trust society. Shouldn't be shocked that we witness more 3rd World behavior. Back when I was a kid you might see few kids that would take more than one piece of candy from the bowl. Nobody would have just cleaned out the bowl and in a million years you'd have never seen kids with their parents engaging in this behavior.Sledog said:
