It’s debatable whether the rushing offense is any better than when this fucking moron and John Donovan were in charge

I tend to agree, but would note that it appeared Penix was able to get on track with play action. And that won’t work if you don’t make a decent effort to run.

I'd actually prefer we don't run the ball. 90-10 passing split is what works for us, gay as it may be

I don’t disagree. Their approach to the run game is fucking stupid in general. It’s either completely non-existent (3rd quarter Oregon), or obnoxiously failing over and over with heavy doses on first and second down. When it’s the latter, the whole rhythm gets fucked, we play tentative, etc.

Run game is a disaster in general but we need something out of it

If we ran more tonight we lose

Agreed... just throw screens and swing passes if you're gonna run the ball...

    Run w. the pass game.

Huff is one of the only guys who recruits well but the unit isn’t exactly consistent. How many more chances does he get?

I’m guessing DeBoer doesn’t make any staff changes this offseason, which is a mistake.

I like Nixon a little more. He’s more explosive.

We also forget that Johnson is a pass-catching back... so is Nixon.

Where has the pass-catching been from their RB's? 0 receptions tonight.

Both players need to be getting 3ish check downs a game when the long game isn't there.

This team needs to pass to set up the run. The run only works well because the defense needs to key in on the pass - this team's strength isn't to impose their will at the line.

throw some high completion passes to get in rhythm by incorporating RB and TE. some far screens with your talented WRs and your rocket arm QB.

of course, this only works if your QB isn't injured and your WR aren't having an off day.

grubb and huff are probably thinking that the defense will sell to stop the pass, so they should run. but at this point, its clear that this year's team is just not that. we need to get the passing game going, then everything else can follow. we throw some long bombs and for whatever reason its failing, then we get scared, and try to run without first setting up the pass, then that doesn't work well either.

Yup. They were using this game to impose their will on a shit defense, UCLA ran for over 200 against them last week, but were clearly not capable.

They have to pass in order to run.

Also, trying to give Penix a light day IMO.
