UWs Red Zone Offense

I almost want them 1st down at the 15, Over 1st down at the 5 yard line. Even last year seems like offense gets to get faggy when close to the goal line.

I don’t have any solutions i just like to nitpick like I do on Yelp

Big Suk on 1080 here in Portland claims to know some people and said Penix was really dinged up and threw a wrench in plans

However last year seemed to be same dealio.

The Goalline Offense is a concern.

Goal line offense has been a concern since the MSU game last year, where it took 10 tries to punch it in from the 1

If they couldn't do a QB sneak with Penix because he was hurt, put in Morris

Yes it has been, and this year are best play down there has been to giving it to a wr coming across formation.

I'd like us to go 4 wide and see if Johnson can pick his way through with less guys in the box.

Goal line offense is faggy for almost every team at every level. That doesn't excuse us for being faggy, but still.

    True.

UW does good running outside the tackles

    Between them is another story

Huff has always been like that

Need to find more creative ways to get the ball outside. The motions with Germie have been good.

A dive doesn't need to be creative. The oline just needs to collectively win the push for a yard or two.
So far they haven't done that.

They haven't in 20 years, either

Imagine thinking a defense is going to stop Richard Newton 4 times from the 1... all he did was score at the goal line as a freshman.

Won't even give the kid a chance.

    Fuck off as always grundle

Congrats, UW ran a RB dive against Cal in 2010 to finish 6-6

Against good teams UW has never ran well between the tackles.

Maybe 2017 with Gaskin. He popped off against Penn State

They are cultivating Tybo as a goal line guy IMO. He’s like Myles, he’s small but can find creases kind of guy.

When Gaskin needed a yard, he generally got the yard. And so did Browning, and Eason for that matter.

    Yeah, against dreck

Howd they do against a defense with a pulse?

    USC, Bama? Nothing

Eason was okay at the under center QB sneak snap. But Ahmed wasnt running between the tackles either.

Time to shelf the wildcat -- unless you bring in Newton from his soup kitchen duties (or whatever punishment he's been serving). The defense knows what's coming and no one, other than Newton, has ever shown an ability to get into the end zone consistently. (And that was like a decade ago.)

And going into the shotgun with a crowded formation on the 1 just seems crazy -- unless you intend to pass or bring a WR on a fly sweep. It just slows everything down, and UW's line doesn't seem to be strong enough to get any push whatsoever.

Goal line against Auburn haunts me

    Fire Huff
    Yup.

Ive been watching the doogs for 25 years and the only team I vaguely remember having consistent success in short yardage running is 2000 with Tui

This is where I'm at too. The fly sweep as window dressing can open up the inside run especially if it has worked once or twice. Otherwise I'd rather see Penix under center and a couple of quick dive plays. I don't think the OL has really been given a chance to just power one in.

Chris Polk minus the Notre Dame game was pretty solid if I remember.

We seem to not have a jumbo package. Westover, Cervesa, Culp, or Moore (where the fuck did he go?) playaction a big TE should be open all day long

We had 3 TE sets under Peterhips that couldnt gain a yard if their life depended on it (Auburn game)

Would love to see Grubb do this
