Block, catch, put your foot down and hit the hole. In that order, in this offense.
Brown doesn't pass the first criteria. Not saying he sucks, so don't twist -

Sounds good but that isn’t true. I doubt Tybo came in as an amazing blocker. They want explosive RB’s. We don’t seem to be stressed about Brown. His big picture recruitment strongly hints at him being overrated.Baseman said:Block, catch, put your foot down and hit the hole. In that order, in this offense.

? UW has almost a 2:1 pass run ratio. Talapapa played as much for his blocking and pass-catching than for rushing.RoadDawg55 said:

Dillon Johnson caught 65 passes one year at MSU. Jason Brown hasn't caught 5 passes his entire HS career.
Tybo started as a Slot in HS. He's a dual threat Shehee steered here. According to Shehee, he's also a tough, willing blocker.
Few HS running backs arrive ready to block college rushers. DeBoer and Grubb recruit receiving threat RBs. They play RBs that block

@Baseman
What's interesting is that to date we haven't really utilized our RBs out of the backfield in the passing game
Probably something that we'll see a little bit more as the season goes on and teams play more shell coverages -
expect more receptions as we? play tougher teams. Hard wasting designed wheel routes for rbs when Rome/Polk/McMillan and Bernard are running free down field. I'd expect we utilize our RBs more against Oregon, SC, etcTequilla said:@Baseman

Talapapa was a boss last year blocking. It wasn't sexy --it was for me--but i can think of a handful of plays where he stood up a dogging LB allowing Penix to complete a key pass and prevented several sacks.
The receiving element is definitely a criteria this staff values. Grubb said if you dont block, or block well you don't play -
There's no question that there will be more RB/TE involvement as the season progresses and teams try to take away the WRs
-
If he's any good he'll portal here in 2026 or so.

Grubb hasn’t even pulled out 3 TE’s and 2 Rb’sBaseman said:

on them yet. That’s a huge can of whoop ass, because all of a sudden the two running backs are actually pretty good receivers. How do you stop that? -
Yep. There might be better RBs out there but Johnson fits the mold of what DeBoer and Grubb want.Tequilla said: -
Official visitor for the Oregon Game
O’Dea HS, WA. Brown visited Autzen last weekend and is being heavily recruited by UO, but it sounds like he is keeping the door open for the Huskies. -
But is there mutual interest?NeGgaPlEaSe said:

Unless he’s using the Staff for free tickets, he’s an official visitor that weekend. If you are implying Washington isn’t interested he has an offer and an official visitHFNY said:

Brown has redefined his body for his senior year. He looks faster and more explosive while still flashing his usual vision and balance that allows him to churn out more yards after initial contact. He's also seen some time in the secondary, but make no mistake, he's a running back and he's down to just over 190 pounds, compared to his junior season in which he played over 200. His productivity is on pace to be his most productive season of his four years as a starting back.

If he can punch the ball in from the 1 yard line, sign himNeGgaPlEaSe said:Brown has redefined his body for his senior year. Not implying, I was curious if the staff was still recruiting him and if he was at the game, the answer is yes.NeGgaPlEaSe said:

Oregon get cock hard recruiting Washington kids. So far is hasn't done much they've lost 3 out the 4.
With Washington you can win and get the bag. It's a no brainer if the Washington staff is truly interested in you. -

“Brown certainly understands the pride and tradition that DeBoer was referencing. Growing up in the shadow of Husky Stadium, he spent a lot of time with Washington's all-time leading rusher and another O'Dea product, Myles Gaskin.”

If Oregon had room for him he'd likely have already given a verbal there ...
This screams of one of those situations where someone waits a bit to see if something opens up but ends up going with Plan B and it ends up working out for all -
