Because it didn’t happen that way. If they had actually hired Wilcox, Mullens would’ve been run out of town on a cart.

Oregon media sure love to hype it up though even when Cal sucks ass and we? don’t.

I never believed it either.

I’m sure they interviewed him. But he never had any sort of serious offer. Mullens knows he would get ass blasted by the fans if he actually tried to hire him.

My theory, and I’m pretty sure I’m right, is that Wilcox got butthurt, told Canzano/Wilner he turned us down and used it to leverage more money from Cal.
