Shouldn't Oregon be the heavy favorite?

Sounds like the people aren't confident in the talent on this sidelines .

To be clear, you think Oregon's odds should be 8/1 rather than 15/4?ntxduck said:

No—the far right column is implied % of winning the conference based on the betting odds. It’s not % of $ received, as CU is he biggest liability at every single book.dnc said:

Oregon should be 15.2%. Utah 9.1%. Oregon state 7.6%.
On every US book, Oregon is ahead of UW. No idea why he pulled the odds from this obscure Caribbean outfit instead of using dk/fd.
If you’re not familiar with wolf, he makes eklund look like Einstein.

Like I’ve said many times Peterman was a damn good recruiter. 90-11, not so much. Enjoy the best talent he’ll ever have to work with this coming year, Race.
MidB1G is your future.

10-3, such a waste.
Enjoy your best season ever under 90-11.

Oregon could have the most talent, but they have at best the 5th best coach in the league, until he proves otherwise, and poor roster construction on defense. They bust after bust after bust at edge and corner and that is a shit ass combination to have not work out.
I'm not sure Oregon has a starting caliber cornerback on the roster. They're all safety body types, while the actual corners are freshmen or approaching bust status. Who on the roster is a "cover guy"? There isn't one unless someone like Manning or Florence step up and take a starting job. -
Sounds like they need to hire you to help construct the roster.dtd said:

Imagine you’re going to win anything of significance with a roster of 3* MWC ALL-Stars, that was the point.
Lanning is just getting started. He pissed two games away. It’s not like he lost to UCLA and ASU.

But no sane analyst would argue that having more 4/5 stars, in isolation, lowers your odds of winning. See the list of national champions since the inception of the BCS/playoff. But of course coaching and chemistry matter, and did for all of those natty champs.
Penix is the best QB UW has had since, shit, are there any you'd choose to replace him right now if you could? I can't think of any I'd choose over him. Maybe Joe Burrow and his NFL receivers had something to do with LSU winning? And Herbert for "Coach" Meat? How did that work out for them when those chumps left? Maybe we should save the HOF induction for Coach Fats until he has to replace Penix and gets his guyses in there.
But you know all this.

"But of course, coaching and chemistry matter."
The odds makers have 1 data point for Oregon (and most odds have Oregon 2nd behind USC, but I digress). Indeed, Lanning shit the bed last year against UW and particularly Oregon State. Nobody thinks talent alone is predictor of winning, but it is a prerequisite for winning it all.
Because of its talent, Oregon has more upside than any team in P12, but coaching and chemistry were not sufficiently strong in 1 season under Lanning to make it the favorite.
It shouldn't be the favorite. 2nd-4th is exactly where my? Ducks should be slotted given what we know.
