When we had the Firestorm near here in 2020. We lost like 3,000 homes throughout the state. In Southern Oregon, they took out whole neighborhoods. In the Santiam Canyon, it was a checkerboard of which house burned to the ground and the one next to it unfazed. And many of the ones untouched had thick vegetation up against them. Weird stuff.
One theory I’ve heard and kind of buy into is the houses with clean gutters had a better chance to make it. But the ones with packed gutters burned to the ground. -
