Which Huskies were you most excited about that never panned out?

Stanback to me seems like era and coaching. He would be big time now.
Kasen Williams should have been a RB or LB.
I thought Greyson Gunheim was gonna be like the best football player ever. -
I was still excited about them and they never panned out. They fit this thread topic to a teecreepycoug said:
You almost have to eliminate the QB position, which by its very nature disappoints and succeeds like a MLB batting avg. If you get 3 of 10 to work out, you are fucking killing it.BeerThirty said:Many are recent QBs. Casey Paus, Nick Montana, Cyler Miles, Yankoff, Huard. Lots of misses there

As WR though, not qb. Shows how freaky of an athlete he was, howeverBeerThirty said:

Recency bias aside, Myles Murao

Saama Paamama or whatever his name was. The DT from Hawaii who quit before he started. The TBS'ers were acting like he was the 2nd coming of Emtman.
Tuitele is headed down this path too. Kid still has time though -
Local kids who didn’t qualify could be a category. Andrew Basham, Ali Gaye and Keauntea Bankhead.

Jermaine Kelly. God, his film...
-
Yeah that was a weird one. He was pretty much sold as a sure thing that UW was really lucky to hang onto. Petersen's guys weren't impressed at all though1to392831weretaken said:Jermaine Kelly. God, his film...

Ted buddy - he just needed more time

Gunheim at least made a training camp or 2. With real coaching, he might’ve done something.WoolleyDoog said:Stanback to me seems like era and coaching. He would be big time now.

Something made me go back and look up something in the 2018 class.
Ranked 16th overall with 20 commits, 8 of the top 10 sucked or were hurt.
The 2 that panned out were Tuli and Kyler Gordon.
The rest of that top 10:
Spiker
Yank off
Sirmon (QB)
Door dash Taimani
Osborne
Irvin
Bynum
From the other 10 in the class,
6 starters/contributors:
Mele
Culp
ZTF
Ale
Newton
Hampton
The other 4:
Tafisi - Utah St
Sirmon the LB - 1st team all Pac12 at Cal
Curne - Oklahoma
Nasili-Kite - he’s at Auburn according to 24/7
12/20 were misses. -
Yeah they were, he just broke his leg or something. He was going to start as soon as a coupl NFLers got out of the way.chuck said:

Wow that's not how I remember it at all. That doesn't really surprise me though. The way I remembered it he was squeezed out because he sucked and we ended up with John Ross at corner. It's all pretty hazy now though.1to392831weretaken said:

Either way he was a good mention. I was excited about him and he didn't pan out. -
We both remembered it wrong. For some reason I thought he came after Sidney Jones, but he came before. He beat out Naijiel Hale, Travell Dixon, and Sidney Jones to start across from Marcus Peters as a redshirt freshman. He started the first two games, broke his ankle, never played as a Husky again. Jones took over for him as a true freshman starter and never looked back.chuck said:

Kelly ended up transferring to SJSU because of injuries and family obligations and played well there. Got drafted in the seventh round, but injuries kept him from doing anything in the NFL. Bounced around the CFL and is now in the USFL. I don't think the high school film necessarily lied, he just couldn't stay healthy. -
Would all of them between 2003 and 2009 be too much of a generalization?

Meeting Stanback one was one of the highlights of the Alamo. Seems like he has 10 kids but then again I was blacked out. csb.WoolleyDoog said:Stanback to me seems like era and coaching. He would be big time now.
