The only thing I miss from having a gym membership was being able to use the row machine. I was actually pretty dialed in on that at one point. Would be a death sentence trying to get back to what I used to do on those things and I was definitely not a row peter puffer.

I have a used one bought from the Head Row Boat Corch at UW in my garage which makes it easier. Still use the one at the cuntry club gym as well.

The advantage you fuckers all have when it comes to row peter puffering is you're not trying to compete against your times from the age of 21. I'm in pretty great shape for an old mid 40's geezer and can't get anywhere near where I was at age 21 in terms of split times.

I used to go pre covid. Always the early shift

Then they closed like day 1 of the lockdown so I canceled. With a firm rebuke

Sometimes just a rebuke isn't enough

6 months later they started charging my card again

An even firmer rebuke and threats of legal action

Got out of the habit and did sun walks instead. When I lived in the sun

Not seeing too many fatties among the natives of London. It’s kinda like NYC in that the public transit is good but you still gotta use your feet to get from a Tube station to your eventual destination. Amazing what walking just a few miles a day can do to cut down on obesity.

Probably helps that the food sucks

    I kid

    Not really

Americans eat too much. If I exercise less I eat less

My gym is starting to get crowded and it's irritating. For the first 7 years I was a member, I could go in anytime before 7am or anytime after 8pm and there would be maybe one other person in there, if that. Now there's like 20 people in there all the time. Not sure if everyone is suddenly on a kick to lose the COVID weight, but like I said it's irritating.

Still better than going in around 4 or 5pm. That's when all the high school and college guys swarm the place. They're loud. They're always crowding around each other and talking, making it hard to get through. They're often on their phone while sitting at a machine or bench while other people are waiting. fuck those guys. Get out of my gym.

I have noticed a lot of dudes that only workout their upper body, too. They look silly having arms bigger than their thighs, but to each their own I guess. I spend 2x as much time working on my lower body than I do upper, because I'm smart.

TL:DR I just wanted to brag that I go to the gym.

Squats trump all of the upper body strength training exercises.
