Portland being Portland

You would think folks in a poor community would avoid forcing a retail store to close that serves the neighborhood. How many jobs displaced, how much further do shoppers need to travel for what will be shoes that cost more?

By all means Mr. Wheeler- don't let them hire cops who could actually make arrests to clean up the situation.

When does Portland want to stop being weird and start growing up?>

It's not just the lack of police, it is that there is no penalty for misdemeanor shop lifting. The perps get a fine they never have to pay and no jail time. They are out the same day and free to go do some more shop lifting. Car theft is just about the same.

They don't allow the police to do their job. The new liberal mantra many here vote for. Pathetic little cuck commie shits.

Its interesting. Sarah's sister Lisa Mensah is a far, far left rat. My guess is neither has no idea what their politics have wrought, nor would they care if they did have that realization or honesty

Socialism and communism just haven't been done right.

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle is not prosecutable any longer unless the (very stupid) thief tells the truth about his/her actions thanks to the Oregon Court of Appeals interpretation of proving the elements of the crime.

So, yeah it’s cool to steal cars in Oregon.

Go pick up what’s left of your stolen/damaged car; fill out a police report (for the insurance claim); pay to get it out of the towing yard; La Di Dah.

    Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

    15%????

Try again. Both Auto and Home went up 25% despite never having any claims other than a roadside assist and a windshield replacement over 5 years ago. Neither which are chargeable incidents.

Depends on where you live. Insurance companies use rating territories, generally based on losses in certain zip codes with some sharing to prevent adverse rates in some areas.

But yeah, home rates alone went up 30-50% in Oregon this year, with more increases on the way.

My wife pays the bills our insurance kept going up every year. This year it jumped a pretty big amount. I called my brother who has the same insurance company and his hadn't seen these spikes. Called his agent and reinsured everything for way less than my current agent. Way less. She hadn't checked just paid the bills.

My agent was jacking the rates and when called said no it's the company not us. They lied. I got better coverage for less. A lot less. Keep an eye on what your old lady (or old man/lady thing if you're a BidenBros) does and ask questions occasionally. I'm gonna complain about the old agent everywhere I can.

I'd shopped rates a few years ago and ended up with our current insurer. In December I got our new rates and both car and home insurance were up 30% with no claims to support any increases. This company doesn't use agents. I called and talked to a representative who said it was the cost of replacement materials and I said that the likely hood of a major repair was negligible and that I was going to shop our insurance. I then got moved to another representative who said the same thing and I said thanks for your service but it was unlikely I would continue as their customer. I then got moved to an underwriter who spent about 10 minutes reviewing our cars and home and then I ended up with having both car and home rates dropped by about 10% from the prior year rate. I let it ride and took the lower rates, but I resented the obvious attempt to jack my rates. I'm going shopping next fall.

Washington insurers were forced to get rid of its use of credit score in insurance underwriting in late 2021 or so. Everything went up 20% over night.

Agents have nothing to do with the rates. Insurance actuaries and the State Insurance Commissioner do.

An insurance company presents their loss rate to the Commission to back up their proposed increase. And the Commission tells the Insurance company how much they can raise their rates as a whole for Auto, Home, Commercial, WC and so forth in a particular State.

The insurance company then tries to spread the burden of the rate increase across the State to keep as few people going shopping for new insurance as possible.

If you live in an area where the insurance company doesn’t have much saturation, then you bear most of the brunt of the increase.

So many times the zip codes that produce the most loss, don’t have as high of rate increases as other areas that had way less. Because if they have good saturation in that zip code, they want to minimize noticeable rate increase, as to keep the masses from going shopping for new insurance.

And to add, if you are A paper with no chargeable auto claims within 3 years and no Homeowner claims for 5 years, you can get a nice shiny rate from a new company. But the new company will do just what the old company did to you after the first year. And if you have Earthquake riders and any type of other special circumstance that requires other riders, it could get real ugly come renewal time.
