I’m pretty sure that Oregon’s series with Ohio State way out in something like 2033-34 is currently the only other football game either Oregon or Washington had scheduled against a Big 10 school. With that being so far in the future, there probably would be no hurry to cancel the game ASAP.
What’s more nerve racking is how I haven’t heard anything about basketball games Oregon and Washington have scheduled against Big 10 schools being cancelled. There also isn’t any news about cancellations in sports like water polo or lacrosse, if those cancellations would seriously even make the news. It creates the impression that this OSU cancellation might just be some fluke that Ohio State is cancelling because they’re pussies rather than because UW is being liberated from the PAC.
What is also nerve racking is how the Ohio State AD said he’s paying $500,000 to UW for cancelling the series. Our only really hope is that the OSU AD is lying about the $500,000 as a deliberate misdirection. I can’t imagine that either side would pay damages if the contract is being cancelled because UW is soon joining the Big 10. -
