    Huber was a grown man. Why would his dad have any right to any money. He wasn't dependent on the convicted felon was he? Years and years ago, when I worked in insurance claims, we had an insured who hit a pedestrian and killed them. Pedestrian was borderline homeless, and the parents tried to get the settlement. Court ruled that they weren't entitled to any award since they weren't dependent on the pedestrian.

    If you die without a will and no spouse or kids, then your parents are next in line to succeed to your estate which would include any wrongful death award.
