It was sometime in the 1995-1999 range. They damaged one and tore down another as I recall.
Like a fishing story it's gotten worse then when I first heard about it. But that does sound very disrespectful to a tunnel.

When I first heard the story back on e-duck, the "damage" consisted of players spitting on the posters. Now I don't know if that is accurate either but there weren't any claims about tearing anything off the walls. Frankly I think we should start saying they burned the tunnel down after wiping human/dog excrement on the walls all in front of someone’s six year old daughter, attending her first game, with her wheelchair bound grandmother.
