UW needs a new DL so they can get him back in coverage more. I don't think any UW dbs came within two arm lengths of a pass breakup... At least not four times.HFNY said:

That’s a bit of high praise for Covington. 17 tackles, 4 passes defended and 0 picks this year for a bad SC defense. Sounds like he would have fit right in with the guys shuffling in and out at UW this year.NeGgaPlEaSe said:
First off the heir apparent to the NFL corners is playing and balling out at USC. It was tough to loose him in the portal as he would have obviously started this year in front of Erving, and is probably one of two players who would have had this team undefeated and in the playoffsPenace said:Beating a horse here I know, but how in the fuck is the cupboard so shockingly bare in the secondary. Got 5 DBs on board for the class and its possible every fucking one plays a lot next year.

Dom Hampton also had 4 PBUs so I nominate Dom and Tuli as the lockdown corners for 2023.chuck said:

The lack of talent has been called out for years as Jimmy stopped recruiting and the two idiots he had coaching in the secondary couldn’t recruit to save their livesPenace said:Beating a horse here I know, but how in the fuck is the cupboard so shockingly bare in the secondary. I almost get the impression Jimmy thought he was such a fantastic DB coach that he intentionally recruited 2nd rate talent (w/ respect) to prove that he could "coach" them up. Seems like a Jimmy move to meTequilla said:

Cliff Harris was poison on the recruiting trail for some reason. Petersen's appeal to recruits and families was obviously what carried the DB recruiting until he left.BeerThirty said:

Love or don't love the kids tape and intangibles it's probably a good thing for optics if nothing else to make sure the top rated recruits in the state 1. Go to UW 2. Don't go to Oregon
-
Yeah, its definitely good for optics. By the same token, I don't get why we're giving so little attention to Limar and letting him flip to our rivals. Like..... just take the local 4* guy. If he sucks he can portal.WoolleyDoog said:Love or don't love the kids tape and intangibles it's probably a good thing for optics if nothing else to make sure the top rated recruits in the state 1. I'm generally in the camp of taking the top few guys in the state if you can even if they aren't your favorites or a position of need. I'm dooging on this one and assume they like Tybo more and it's as simple as that. One thing we'll have to consider with RB recruiting as long as DeBoer is at UW is if they think the kid wants to and can pass pro. No idea if this kid is the world's best at pass pro or refuses to do it. Just a thing.bananasnblondes said:

I think Oregon would take me if I had a four star rating on 247 so there he goes. -
I like that this thread is talking about taking local 4*s because it looks good and in the Junior Alexander thread we talk about how the local 4*s suckbananasnblondes said:

I get this but losing the top instate recruit to your chief rival two years in a row is a bad look. At least secure number one every year even if you know he isn’t as good as your three star from Texas. Not saying Presley isn’t a good player. Don’t twist.whatshouldicareabout said:

Those aren’t mutually exclusive poonts. You can think the local 4 stars suck but still take a few to bolster your chances with the local 5 stars when they pop up. Having local kids on the team is important for perception.whatshouldicareabout said:

They suck, but I'd rather get the local 5 stars than lose them like JTT, Egbuka, Taylor Mays, Shilling, etc.AtomicDawg said:

There's probably a decent argument at this point that the local 5 star QBs are a waste of space but otherwise agree, much rather get the local 5s than not, despite a few busts here and there.EsophagealFeces said:

You can add Jonathan Stewart to the positive list too. -
247 has a gift for overrating wa kids. I thought huard would be good. I admit. But heaps and brown I never understood. Jtt at this point while a starter is hardly living up to his billing. Emeka is great.EsophagealFeces said:

I know not all those kids are 5 stars, just a lot of overrating. Presley at least looks fast to me and our db room is terrible so i think he helps. -
JTT (and Huard) missed most or all of their senior seasons of HS. I think that is an underrated piece of their stories.AtomicDawg said:

Remember when everyone was freaked out because there was smoke JTT was going to move to Texas so he could play his senior year and that was going to push out UW? Hindsight that would have been better because he still would have when to Ohio State but this way everyone could have blamed Inslee.dnc said:

According to the twitters, Presley is still undecided and may not sign tomorrow.
I can't handle the ups & downs. But this would be a tough optics hit since everyone assumed his flip was inevitable. -
Why announce before tomorrow when you can make news as a major flip on signing day.
He gone.

Tasteful reverse jinx attempt here, I can appreciate it, I’ve been there. We? landed Shaq Thompson when I did the same on Dawgman back in the day. Not comparing Caleb to Shaq, don’t twist.46XiJCAB said:Why announce before tomorrow when you can make news as a major flip on signing day.
