Quoting DBs coach Jimmy Lake on the Eastern game, youthful mistakes and Marcus Peters (sort of)

Can't say that I disagree with a single thing that Jimmy Lake said ...

I like Lake. He inspires a little confidence in me that the 4 scrimmages are going to be enough to sort the mess out in the secondary. I'm guessing the personnel rotation is going to be scaled way back for Stanford. Tryouts continue for the next two weeks.

Wow...Jim Lake is really well spoken. Surprising.
-
Nice to see him mostly steer the conversation away from the individual and back to the team and how they improve as a group.
-
The underlying theme I get from these coaches is that everyone is just as important. Sark would always praise indiviudual performances in front of the media. They try to steer away from that.

A benefit of Peters being out is that the coaches can play guys and find out who should be the starter opposite of Peters and how the depth should shake out. The coaches are still figuring out which guys should be playing, which freshman can handle more responsibility, what schemes fit best. It's not going to get any worse. These guys are going to get better and they will also look better when the QB misses on some of those throws.chuck said:I like Lake. The DB depth chart is going to be kick ass eventually...hopefully sooner than later but this amount of in game experience and learning shit the hard way doesn't happen for this many guys in a normal situation and UW is lucky to have the opportunity in some ways. The depth guys never got meaningful snaps under SarkCox. They may not have under Peterman either if we had meaningful OOC games to play.RoadDawg55 said:

Praise be to the AD for the 4 scrimmage schedule. Bad for TV but good for the blow-it-all-up-and-burn-bridges strategy. -
Also interesting to see Kwiatkowski say he called too much man coverage. Peterman specifically said that he didn't believe playing a lot of man to man would be effective with this group in his presser so I'm guessing they had a little discussion.

Nice to know Hugh Millen posts here.HuskyJW said:Wow...Jim Lake is really well spoken. Surprising.

It's nice to see a coaching staff admit they sucked, used the game as a learning experience, and have a plan to adjust their scheme as the games progress. Weird, you'd almost think these guys had won big games before

Thanks for posting these all the time, much appreciated.
