First team out of the 12 team playoff

The 12 team playoff is going to reinvigorate this sport. It is going to be pandemonium when the lower seeds make a run, which will happen.

Bowls & polls. People forget that the angst was a feature, not a bug.

Unique in the sense that at the end of the year there are usually 4 or 5 teams that are absolutely fucked.DerekJohnson said:

I do prefer what we had prior to the 4 team playoff, to the 4 team playoff. But there is no going back now and a 12 team playoff will be phenomenal. -

The 12 team playoff is going to be amazing. Bowls are dead because kids sit out. When you have kids sitting out of the Rose Bowl, the system is done. You cant make the argument that bowls mean as much as they did 30 years ago, because they just don’t. The BCS started the death of the bowls because it diminished the importance of everything outside the championship game, which then got expanded to the playoff. At this point, there’s no putting the toothpaste back in the tube, so they might as well move forward. I can’t remember who brought it up on the announcement show, but he made the point that now, no one on the top 12 teams is going to be sitting out their final game, which is great for the sport.PostGameOrangeSlices said:

And I will add, it's possible that the playoff will be fun. I'm not sure. But tradition is being sacrificed for a money grab, and the Rose Bowl will lose all remaining meaning it had. So it's sad or at least bittersweet.

If you're honest the rose bowl has been dead for awhile.DerekJohnson said:And I will add, it's possible that the playoff will be fun. I'm not sure. But tradition is being sacrificed for a money grab, and the Rose Bowl will lose all remaining meaning it had. So it's sad or at least bittersweet.
The tradition is done, Rose Bowl just got punked by the powers that be in the playoff negotiation. They Were basically told we'll give you nothing and if you don't get in by tomorrow you're out and the Rose caved because the machine is in control now. -
PGOS things, let it go.DerekJohnson said:

I think the 12 team is a necessary fix. Reducing the number of meaningful, post season games to threw, while still trotting out a full array of bowls that nobody, not even the players, cares about was a costly mistake. I don't know how the 12 team format looks, but no matter what it creates about 10 games that have high stakes. Players won't sit out. People will watch.

You’re right and you’re wrong.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Silver lining is, at least we saved this season for the 4 team playoff
The 12 team playoff is going to reinvigorate this sport. It is going to be pandemonium when the lower seeds make a run, which will happen.
The good: fewer players sitting out, conference title games and conf championships will take on even more meaning for fans and shit talking because hardly anyone is going to sniff the title game.
It’s going to save the postseason (from itself) but nobody outside of the true blue bloods are ever going to win this thing.
The teams that “snuck in” couldn’t even fluke 2 wins let alone, 4.
Almost every semi final featuring the top 4 has been a blowout. Week two of the new playoffs is going to be a bloodbath. That said week 1 will probably be shit hot.
Injuries are going to decide titles.
I’m with Derek on this one. The old way was romantic and beautiful. The plus 1 was probably the best solution they ever came up with. That was good enough. -
Can't wait for players to sit out of playoff games
And CCGs if they keep the now meaningless games
We didn't get a bye so God told me to get ready for the draft. Please respect my decision -
Tradition was flawed.DerekJohnson said:And I will add, it's possible that the playoff will be fun. I'm not sure. But tradition is being sacrificed for a money grab, and the Rose Bowl will lose all remaining meaning it had. So it's sad or at least bittersweet.

What’s a lower seed?PostGameOrangeSlices said:Silver lining is, at least we saved this season for the 4 team playoff

It’s going to happen but only because putting only conference winners in the top 4 ensures some good SEC teams will smash their first round opponent and then the below average conference champ.
Ohio State would be seeded #6 this year. Clemson #3. Beating up USC and then Clemson would count as a run for tOSU to make the semis.
Pandemonium? Like we say, no. -
Disagree. Upsets will happen because just like this year, there will be some 10-2, 10-3, 9-3 teams that will get hot at the right timewhlinder said:

I thought he was saying I wanted the Alamo Bowl to happen, not a 12 game playoff.DerekJohnson said:

Upon further reflection I apologize @GrundleStiltzkin
The 12 game playoff may or may not be better than the pre playoff status quo. IMO it is markedly better than the 4 team playoff. -
Don’t forget about being matched up against a bitch ass QB from SC.PostGameOrangeSlices said:
