Has a long history of supporting local football stars:HFNY said:$1 million sounds about right but I'm not sure who would pony up the money. Does that include or not include insurance for loss wages if he gets hurt?

And to handle the insurance:

A fourth round pick makes between 650K and 850K his first year. Come up with 750 and let's roll next year. I'm with Race. Pay the known commodities. Penix is that and some.

fair. maybe 500k?BleachedAnusDawg said:
Totally agree that it's far from a done deal that he leaves. I just think it takes a lot more than $200k to keep him around.PostGameOrangeSlices said:
Look up what 1st rounders make on an initial contract versus 4th roundersBleachedAnusDawg said:
Look up what rookies come in at for salary by round. UW would need to come up with at least 2.5 mil, IMO. And that's assuming he gets a day 3 grade due to medicals.PostGameOrangeSlices said:
1) 200kATLDawg said:Heard from a reliable source Pennix is seriously considering coming back for the right price. The thought is if he balls out again he’a first round obviously it’s 7 figures.
Question 1? How much do you think he needs?
Question 2: Can UW come up with the $$ to get it done?
Question 3: is he worth it? (I’m free market & believe all players should get paid & are worth whatever the market demands)
2) Can they? Yes. Will they? Hopefully
3) Yes
It's a gamble, but one that could pay off big
I really doubt UW goes 7 figures as much as Penix would deserve it.
the thing is, Penix isn't really going to go into a bidding war because he can't risk leaving DeBoer. Not like he would take 2 mil to go to aTm or something equally nuts -
From what I've seen it's a bad assumption that medicals are going to hurt him that much in the draft. He's not a slight, frail looking guy at all and he's shown quickness, escape ability and open field speed. He's not hobbling around out there.
If his knee is deemed stable, as it appears to be, he's not lasting past the second. Third round at the latest. He's getting looks as a first round possibility.
I've seen it on the webs. He's gone. -
Half million, full insurance policy and the fact that he is the heisman favorite to open the season most likely…HFNY said:$1 million sounds about right but I'm not sure who would pony up the money. Does that include or not include insurance for loss wages if he gets hurt?

It’s not $200k, he’s not considering anything under 7 figures.

200k plus income via t shirt deals and whatnotTheHB said:He ain’t coming back for $200K
He already has an NIL car and probably tons of other shit
If the play is to gun for a 1st round pick next year, its a decent amount
Right now he is prob 3rd or 4th round

I know you're being sarcastic but you'll be on the air during the pod because you're the host.DerekJohnson said:How good is UW without Penix?
Do Inge and Morrell deserve credit for the defense in November or blame?
I'll take my questions off the air -
