Not sure about that. 1st and goal and gaol from the 5 needing to run clock and you pass??? Even worse, 60 seconds to go Ducks have 2 TOs left, already in FG range and you pass the ball??? Terrible play calls. One might say he got lucky.
-
The pass call was fine, after completing it and having 2nd and 1, going no huddle with another pass was Rick 12 men on the field terrible. And then stuffed on 3rd and 1. You either burn both of Oregon’s timeouts or you get a first down and then can really control the end. WTF. He fucked that up royally.
-
Jesus Christ, dude. The Ducks have won 23 in a row at home and 16/18 against us, when the Huskies always fall over their own dicks and give up, and you want to argue about play calls?????RoadTrip said:Not sure about that. 1st and goal and gaol from the 5 needing to run clock and you pass??? But the problem with the throw is it risks another pick but worse the incomplete stops the clock and saves whoregon a TO. WTF??? Run the fucking ball there all day every fucking day.whlinder said:The pass call was fine, after completing it and having 2nd and 1, going no huddle with another pass was Rick 12 men on the field terrible. Yes. That 2nd down call was fucking stupid beyond belief.doogville said:

I was questioning the call earlier too, but I might buy your argument. Calling a pass probably grades out as a higher percentage play for UW there. Was it higher enough to risk not burning that timeout though?RoadTrip said:

I think the way the game ended is pretty good evidence for your side. -
No way is that true. You get the 2 yards on second down and the clock and timeouts are basically gonna. Plus you’ll get probably 7-8 more yards on the next series.chuck said:

It's the new way of coaching I guess. Nobody expects you to throw there so maybe catch them off guard and win the game? Not me, you're in FG range 2nd and 1. Run the ball get the first down, force them to call the TO and run 2 or 3 more times and line up for the game winning FG. Foing that allowed them back in the game.chuck said:

Edit...well, maybe it was only me ignoring 2nd down. I dint actually remember the play before the 3rd down run. -
But you’re forgetting about the fake injury timeouts. No point in burning their TOs when they have those.whlinder said:The pass call was fine, after completing it and having 2nd and 1, going no huddle with another pass was Rick 12 men on the field terrible. Fix the defense. Then pay Deboner the money.

How do we miss 47 tackles on the night and still win?UW_Doog_Bot said:Fix the defense. Then pay Deboner the money.

Because Oregon has the same problem we? do?DerekJohnson said:

Time to "be in that lane" Jen

My question as well.DerekJohnson said:

I dont understand how Oregon didn't score 50+ against that defense. For long stretches the back 7 was ready to quit rather than hit someone. -
If I'm Oregon I'm questioning why they wanted to emphasize the run so badly in the first halfchuck said:

If I’m Oregon I am wondering why we went for it when the game was tied on our own 35 with 1:30 left.

It was actually on the 30 in fact, I believe. And with their backup QBCuntWaffle said:If I’m Oregon I am wondering why we went for it when the game was tied on our own 35 with 1:30 left.

The blank check needs to be for the next qb, defense and defensive staff next year.doogville said:Blank check. Winners win.
On the other hand we are lucky the cornhuskers let us have their coach in waiting at all. -
Probably because, even accounting for scrambles, a goal line fumble on a FS play, and runs that were stopped by the end zone, Oregon rushed for 148 at nearly 7 per in the first half. Part of the reason the pass defense was so hapless (besides the usual) was that the Huskies were getting so carved up by the run and looking into the backfield.DerekJohnson said:

Coaches have all become convinced that they have "Patrick Mahomes and/or Genesis of Read Zone" where because they are so better athletically/schematically down and distance mean zip and they can go for it anytime and are going to make it.
Lanning coached like he was the underdawg playing on the road and had to gimmick his way to a win, instead of just taking the 5-6-7 yards on the ground whenever they want and win a 48-34 game. -
If I'm Oregon, I jump off the Montlake bridge next year

Yeah with the caveat that he needs to hire a legit big time DC and let him have autonomy of the defensive side including the position coaches (idc stfu). Sup Coach K how are you?

This rivals @WoolleyDoog's uncle who when UW beat #9 Nebraska in Lincoln in 1991 was complaining afterward that Beno Bryant didn't get enough carriesRoadTrip said:Not sure about that. 1st and goal and gaol from the 5 needing to run clock and you pass??? not sure i want bend but don't brake defense that K runs. Folks figured it out that you can just run at it unless there is generational DT (Vita) is the center piece.backthepack said:Yeah with the caveat that he needs to hire a legit big time DC and let him have autonomy of the defensive side including the position coaches (idc stfu).
