Briles and Freeze were great hires before transgressions. They shouldn’t be on this list. Whether Todd Graham could read or not, he won a fair amount of games at ASU and was fired for being .500 his last couple years. Not an awful hire. Toad Graham was not fit to coach pop warner (by the time he arrived at Hawaii). I get that he is old school but he is likely the VERY WORST COACH on this entire list while he was at Hawaii.theknowledge said:

I don't think I have EVER heard of a fuckface who was further out of touch with reality than that douche bag.
Before the simpleton stepped down Hawaii lost nearly 30 players to the portal. It was the most in the nation and there was a reason for it : TOAD GRAHAM. -

Not condoning what Briles did at all, but their football program was irrelevant before him, had two bad years since he was fired, and is now pretty good again. Most casual fans have no idea what happened under his watch and they are still setup to be a viable program moving forward. Top spot for worst hire should be reserved for someone who lost and ruined the program’s PR so badly that it will take years to recover. Special consideration should go to those who ruined or at least temporarily setback multiple programs. -
Jimmy Lake never won more than 4 games in a season... something even Tyrone Willingham was able to achieve.
