Fleetwood Mac Rumors - even though I think of as and "LA" album - was mostly recorded in Sausalito.
Did you know the Stones recorded Aftermath at RCA in Hollywood? -
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
I immediately thought of Rumours, and then remembered that.YellowSnow said:

Aftermath is best early-period Stones album for me…
Hotel California recording was split between LA and Miami, IIRC -

Van Halen IVH were LA personified. Forget all the hippy shit that should've been recorded in San Fran (Doors, CSN, Young, etc).

The Doors - The Doors
VH were LA in 1978 personified.BleachedAnusDawg said:VH were LA personified. Forget all the hippy shit that should've been recorded in San Fran (Doors, CSN, Young, etc).
Beach Boys were LA personified till 1966. Doors and the Laurel Canyon groups in the late 60s. None of those groups fit into the Bay Area sound at all. -
Hotel California - The EaglesNeil comes in 2nd again

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young & Crazy Horse
So I guess it's just me and Jerry against the world now. We don't need some aging superhero.RaceBannon said:Neil comes in 2nd again

Van Halen IVan Halen are/were America’s version of Led Zeppelin from 78-84
-
The Doors - The Doors
I could make a strong case for The Doors, Pet Sounds or VH1 in this pole. All were ground breaking and unlike anything else that had come before. Hell, I'd argue @El_K that VH1 was more revolutionary than Zep 1.El_K said:Van Halen are/were America’s version of Led Zeppelin from 78-84
I guess it's the "coolness" factor that always does it for me with the first Doors album.
