For me, he’s in the convo for best, with Lightnin’ Hopkins, T Bone Walker, Muddy, BB, Buddy Guy (the best I’ve seen live). Jimi may have been better than all of them…

My favorite song of his is a Howlin’ Wolf cover.
He one of the greatest in my book, kept the Blues alive in the 80s, tough decade for the blues.
Saw him at the Gorge about a month before he died. Great show.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I9A6zK7oXaM

I wasn't super into SRV in college. Just had the Texas Flood CD.alumni94 said:My favorite song of his is a Howlin’ Wolf cover.

But once my hi fi phase started like 17 years ago, I continue to be more and more blown away by the guy's playing.
He truly was the Eddie VH of the blues genre with a level of virtuosity no one could touch. -
Stevie's tone was ridiculous. It is Jimi's tone (or where I first heard it), but he completely made it his own. As long and as much as I've listened to both versions of Little Wing, I still can't tell who is playing in the intro...touch, tone, taste...

Absolutely. He got the fattest sound ever out of the Strat through that Mesa Boogie Tube Amp.Fishpo31 said:Stevie's tone was ridiculous. I'm team Strat and IFL that tone.
Not saying, his Little Wing is better, so don't twist. But it's one of the best covers all of time. -

He's a great guitar player but never really my bag. I was never a fan of his Hendrix covers.
But I like some songs for sure. I always loved Crossfire.
