Opening up the playbook for EWU

The playbook and scheme for Hawaii was very vanilla. It was a very plain and basic offense. That tells me the coaching staff wanted to find something simple and easy to help Lindquist adjust to the game in his first start. Perhaps the best example of this was moving the pocket on the first 3 drives to help reduce pressure on Lindquist and for him to have the time to find the open receiver.

The offense typically opens the playbook up more with each passing week, especially when installing a new offense like what we're doing this year. However, Miles wasn't around for spring camp and missed valuable reps early on when they were installing the offense for the first time. I don't think there is any issue with Miles knowing the plays inside and out, but I wonder if they'll design a vanilla game plan around Miles since he doesn't have the reps that Lindquist and Williams have. Of course, Miles will get the most reps this week, running with the first-team offense, but I'm not sure how sophisticated or developed the offense will be or how it'll compare to next week.

Guess we'll find out more tomorrow when the offensive coaches meet with the media.
