If you lived in an old house with old hardware that broke, it was THE best store around.
But I actually bought most of my bigger items at Ernst. -
Pay N Save, motherfuckers.
Lamonts
Bon Marche'
And Seafirst.

No love for Frederick and Nelson's? There was one at almost every mall, back in the day.
Used to get my Boy Scout stuff at Aurora Village. Now you have to drive down Rainier Ave - scary - to get your scarves and shorts. -
One other thing I miss is the chunk of the Monorail by the old Nordstrom building, across Pine Street, that had the big platforms and the asphalt triangle underneath where pretzel & hot dog vendors set up alongside musicians and street performers. We still have the monorail, but it's about 200 feet shorter now than it used to be, and everything in Westlake Park sucks.

Fuck Frederick and Nelson. They bought The Crescent and ruined it.TurdBomber said:No love for Frederick and Nelson's? There was one at almost every mall, back in the day.

Always, always had broken glass all over the dance floor, and NOGAF. -

No love for Eagle Hardware?TheRoarOfTheCrowd said:So they were selling the stadium the rapidly growing locally owned company [CX Corporation] i worked for needed a large manufacturing space so they bought the land and ripped down the stadium and built the new facility... I worded there for a couple of years before the company was sold to a swiss mega corporation the bought the company for the patents and technology which competed with their products and promptly laid off the 400-500 people that worked there.... so no its a lowes and probably some other stores as well?

Buying Apples by the bridge near Hec Ed. I neglected that part when i previously posted about walks to the stadium on crisp fall days for a 12:30 kick off

I knew him. His brother lived down the road from me. He’d land his helicopter there from time to time. Went to a few parties thereTurdBomber said:

My parents sacrificed so I could wear Levi’s.TurdBomber said:
So did I, but our pants were salt & pepper corduroys until about 4th grade, when the SJWs made us switch to green jeans, recommending Toughskins. Fucking SJWs ruin everything.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:
I went to Catholic school, we wore a fucking uniform. I think the cheap clothes my mom bought were called Tough Skins or something stupid like that. All the poor kids wore them.TurdBomber said:
I'm sure you were wearing LawMan Painters, like the rest of us.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:
I wasn’t wearing Carhart to school in the early 80s.TurdBomber said:
And Carhart. Got a bunch at substantial discounts when they shuttered the White Center store.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:

Chubby and Tubby was a great place to buy Chuck Taylors and shrink to fit 501s.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:
Rebel that I was, I refused, and went with JCP Super Denims (who remembers the robot commercials?) instead of Sears Toughskins.
JCP clothes were always better than Sears shit. So I stayed one step above the pours at my catholic school. -

I don't recall Sabey being from Spokane. If so, he moved away young and never came back other than buying Northtown Mall (which is now essentially The Walking Dead)MikeDamone said:
