The Mayor of MacDougal Street -- some quick thoughts

I'm reading this book right now. It describes Greenwich Village in the late 1950s and 1960s. It's an autobiography of Dave Van Ronk. There's a section where he's lashing out at lying, immoral conservatives, the US government that targets its citizens, and a right-wing media that warps reality and gaslights the people.

It's everything we conservatives are saying today. Kind of ironical and darkly humorous.

Pretty sure conservatives weren't promoting the destruction of the Church, Ted Kennedy's open border legislation, the destruction of the family and forever wars back then. Seems like Goldwater was the only real conservative and he got crushed by the promoter of the Great Society in 1964. Nixon wasn't a conservative by any stretch of the imagination.
