Shaq

As an aside it's awesome that @HeretoBeatmyChest calls into the honks. It helped me come down from my coke, battery acid and bathsalts bender.

He's over 230 so he's not too small. He was pretty quiet tonight though. He's a pretty good player that people pretend is incredible because of his recruiting ranking.

Count up the number of tackles by the DL ... they did a tremendous job tonightRoadDawg55 said:He's over 230 so he's not too small. He was pretty quiet tonight though. He's a pretty good player that people pretend is incredible because of his recruiting ranking.

One of the most under discussed topic. The last staff fucked up and switched him to OLB. He's NOT AN OLB. He's best roaming the secondary where he uses his athleticism and size to dominate. He doesn't have the instincts to be an OLB. He had an awesome freshman year when he played DB. He would help out so much in our pathetic secondary right now.

I could be way fucked up right now, but I'd swear Shaq has been an OLB since he showed up at UW.purpledoogfan said:One of the most under discussed topic. He played LB as a freshman. The staff might have called it nickel, but it was essentially OLB. I've seen him get lost in coverage at times at LB. He was targeted repeatedly in the 2012 Apple Cup in Pullman. Not sure he can cover well enough at safety. If he doesn't have the instincts at OLB, how would he have them at safety? Not to go Hugh Millen on you, but safety is a more cerebral position. At LB, you have a couple of keys and just go.purpledoogfan said:One of the most under discussed topic. From gohuskies:
"named second-team Freshman All-America by FoxSportsNext.com ... picked up the Travis Spring Most Outstanding Freshman award at the team banquet ... started at nickel back in first college game in season-opener vs. San Diego State ... started every game at nickel"

RoadDawg just confirmed what I said, he did play OLB as a frosh. Coverage has never been the strongest point of his game, so I'm not sure how you think he can play safety. He's a talented player, but he hasn't come close to putting it all together yet. He obviously flashes at times, but he's been disappointing for the most part, given the hype that's always surrounded him. Also, if you're going to get worked up over WTFs, you're not going to last long around here.purpledoogfan said:

Trufant and Peters were the CB's. Glenn and Parker were the safeties. Our base defense didn't have 5 DB's. Shaq essentially played OLB. He didn't switch positions from year one to year two. My guess is the staff told him he would play safety when he was recruited and he was reluctant to move to LB, so the staff tried to appease him by calling it nickel. He's been a LB since he's been here regardless of it was called OLB or nickel.purpledoogfan said:From gohuskies:

Whatever the case, Shaq makes no effort to mask his bitterness toward Sark.
