Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.

It seems obvious that the big 10's plan was to ruin the market value of the Pac 12

After the SEC did the same thing to the big 12... this means that the only 2 leagues with contractual value from a TV standpoint are the SEC [EsPN] and the big 10 with Fox...

Now they can take their time to decide what other markets they are interested in. The ACC majors probably to the SEC [especially the Southern Schools] and the big 10 can decide what if anything they might want from the Northeastern and West Coast teams. The real point is that they don't have to do anything right now ~ the objective was to boost the franchise value of the BIG by destroying the market value of the Pac12 in the same way EsPN gutted the big 12 franchise value. Well done, motherfuckers ~ although in truth, the two conferences did it to themselves through lame management ~ the Pac 12 presidents are self aggrandizing idiots.

From a logistical standpoint it does make sense to add some west coast teams to cut down on travel for USC / UCLA and to establish a 10 or 11 team West to go with the 10-11 team East, but i'm guessing the Fox networks are going to want to discount the west coast teams now that they have them over a barrel. The SEC [EsPN] will undoubtedly want to do the same thing to the few ACC teams they will want.

In the process the weakest teams in the big12, pac12 and the ACC are simply going to be relegated to the mid major conferences without any other options except to cut their budgets and eliminate a percentage of sports altogether.

What will emerge is the college version of the AFL vs the NFL with a playoff system to match... in the same manner as the pros it will be all about TV revenue and major market status from a TV standpoint. Yay.
