He was the right person when they hired him but after Tom Hansen anyone was the right person. The problem was five years in the fans and the media knew he was a bridge commissioner and needed to move on unfortunately he said all the right things to the executives in charge.whlinder said:

The "best" part of all this is that the Pac-12 was reportedly one of the conferences to veto the conference champion auto bid playoff expansion vote. I don't know if that would have changed the socal programs' attitude toward staying in the conference, but it would be a nice thing for the Pac-? to have for the next 5 years, especially in regard to recruiting. I was worried that Texas, and to a lesser extent Oklahomo would play power games and ruin it.
