Would keep a conference championship game, but the top-2 teams would play without any division winner arrangement.

A similar concept was discussed in the early days of the Pac-12.

The North/South divide had resistance from the CA schools who wanted to play each other every year, and there was discussions of actually having 3 pods of 4 teams that played each other every year. The pods were NW, CA, and AZ/Mountain schools. Ultimately, they went with N/S but allowed the CA schools to play each other every year, which is why everyone else has an unbalanced schedule without ever having USC/UCLA in the same year.

Sounds like they're thinking about it again

It would create better conference championship games. Think of all the years the 11-1, 12-0 Pac 12 north champion had to play the 8-4, and at least one year, a 6-6 south champion?

Plus we wouldn't have to watch Cohen tweet "Rep the North!" to you guys every year

Once the Pac-12 gets rid of the divisions and a few years pass, Casual UW fans will look back and think "we only had to beat Cougs, Beavs, Tree, Cal, UO to win the North for a decade plus yet could only manage to do that 2 times", which might seem like a gold rush looking up to Utah (at least until Klye leaves) SC and Oregon seem to be going as we decide playing in NIL sandbox with everyone else isn't the Washington Way because it's "not legal" when in fact it is since there are no rules governing it.
