Explain the conference records in BCS bowls.

Explain these records from 1998 through 2011:

SEC vs. PAC-12 regular season: 10-12

SEC vs. PAC-12 bowl games: 1-0

SEC vs. Big 12 regular season: 6-10

SEC vs. Big 12 bowl games: 21-8

SEC vs. ACC regular season: 42-36

SEC vs. ACC bowl games: 16-9

SEC vs. Big 10 regular season: 7-4

SEC vs. Big 10 bowl games: 19-19

SEC vs. Big East regular season: 16-15

SEC vs. Big East bowl game: 3-8

    BOOM
Good stuff Billy. They have had dominant teams at the top, but after the top 2-3, the conference is no different from any other. Every year teams like South Carolina, Georgia, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and whatever other team backs into a 9-4 season get overrated. I've never seen a team get as lucky as Auburn did last year and Missouri making the SEC title game last year spoke volumes.

Alabama will always be great with Saban, LSU is always one of the most talented teams, and Florida was great under Urban Meyer. Auburn might be able to get into the conversation with Malzahn. The rest of the teams pretty much suck.
Other than Seattle and San Francisco, the NFC West was just like every other NFL division last year.

It's the top end of the SEC that makes the difference. We all know the bottom half sucks, but no one cares.
Disagree. You're discounting how good the Cardinals are. They would have won the NFC North and had a shot at the East and South. The Rams were dreck on offense, but their defense is outstanding. The NFL-NCAA comparison doesn't really work there because conference play is 9/12 of your games in college, but only 6/16 in the NFL. The strength of your division/conference makes a bigger difference in college than the NFL, good or bad.
Holy crap Tequilla, you took that Sarkasm way too seriously.

It's funny how all the Pac Twoolves suddenly grow bolder the year that the SEC doesn't win the title.

    Another whoosh

I've been watching the SEC since they had ten teams and TBS (as in the TV station) showed their gaymes on Sat. mornings in the 80s. They were a respectable conference, nothing more. In fact I remember some Bammer v. LSU games for the conference lead in which both teams were ranked in the teens. 1988 or thereabouts. Even in the late 90s Bammer was terrible, and I remember Danny Waffle (a worse Heisman than Gino Torretta) and the Gaytors getting drilled by Tommy Frazier in the party bowel.

This "success" is a recent, ovehyped, and short-lived phenomenon. Don't act like CBS and ESPN's multi billion dollar deals have nothing to do with it either. It's already fading fast. Look at how South Carolina was absolutely annihilated. Real Top 10 teams rarely play like that... Maybe once out of every 40 times.

No, all four teams in the NFC West were good. Arizona went 10-6. That wins the division in some other divisions.

I don't agree with PLSS or Billy. I think and have always said the SEC has been the best conference in recent years. Bill's numbers show that it's not as great as Purple J thinks either. The answer is in the middle.

I missed that you bolded part of the poast you responded to, so I missed the Sarkasm. I have to give myself credit, I made a very good argument on why water is wet.

Top tier of SEC > Top tier of every other conference

The top to bottom argument is for losers. The only thing that matters is winning championships, and it's embarrassing that you still don't get it.
