Jeezus, this is what rats will do to society if they have a chance. You either do what they say or you won't be eligible for an oscar, for heath care, for prescription drugs, for fuel for your car, etc.

Fuck you rats.

It may sound like a Roland Emmerich sci-fi movie, but it’s actually more frightening. And much more controversial. It’s the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s latest initiative to make Hollywood more equitable and diverse—more woke—by changing the rules by which films are eligible for Best Picture nominations. Here’s how it works: Starting in 2024, producers will be required to submit a summation of the race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability status of members of their movie’s cast and crew. If a particular movie does not have enough people of color or disabled people or gays or lesbians working on the set—and what is “enough” will be determined by a knotty tangle of byzantine formularies—then that movie will no longer be eligible for an Oscar.

Hollywood has killed the golden goose. Tough to pay someone $30 million to support their private jet lifestyle when the box office is pretty much dead. Second Wonder Woman movie tanked. Steven Spielberg's woke remake of West Side Story, with a $100 million budget along with tens of millions in advertising, pulled $11 million its opening week in the US. What you are going to see are Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple + productions with historically low payments to the actors. Won't watch a minute of this year's Oscars and couldn't name a nominated movie off the top of my head.

The Oscars are still a thing? Do these idiot actors in Hollywood realize that their own woke BS virtue signaling has killed their earnings power. Couldn’t happen to a shitter group of people.

Funny isn't it. When I was in my teens and 20s, hell into my early 30s I'd usually had seen nearly all the movies that had been nominated for Best Picture. Now, without looking, I couldn't tell you one of them.

It’s not dead at all. See Batman, Spider-Man, and most superhero movies. Overseas box office has taken over.

How much do the actors in superhero movies make? They are on what number of replaceable parts for Spiderman and Batman? They pretty much killed off the Star Wars franchise. No way anyone on the streaming Star Trek franchise is getting close to Shatner money on the original Star Trek movies.

The Superhero actors are getting paid a ton. Robert Downey, Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johanson, etc.

Ted Lasso is getting paid a lot of money. Whatever show had Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston paid them a lot to have them on the show.

Star Wars isn’t dead. They fucked up the movies and people didn’t like a couple of them so they took a break. They will be back. It’s happened to Star Wars before.

You are right that the sheer amount of content on the streaming services and cable does drive down salaries, but big names get paid an absurd amount of money.

I hate Hollywood and barely ever watch movies, but I’ve seen this type of thinking and it’s simply not reality.
