This is happening because Trump didn't take the virus seriously

The Johns Hopkins study showed no material effect of lockdowns and mandates. If there were, that data would be pretty clear. The Great Barrington Declaration was spot on about our failed CDC approach to the chicom crud. Then toss in the intentional decision not to consider collateral effects of the lockdowns and mandates - suicide, addiction, weight gain, lost medical treatment and a lost close to two years of education and socialization for the kids. Why US small businesses should have been destroyed because old people and those with serious comorbidities could feel good the vast majority of Americans who had no more of a risk than from the regular H1N1 flu also had to be isolated is a question that the left doesn't want to answer.MikeDamone said:
Exactly. You look at the deaths by state and you can’t correlate them with mandates. There are other variables to consider. For example, when saying Florida has a worse outcome then Washington, no one is adjusting for the age of the population. When looking at Mississippi’s poor outcomes, no one is adjusting for obesity and race.Bob_C said:
People I talk to here in woke King County like to bring up the low death rate in Washington as an example that it all worked. Would you rather be Florida they ask?MikeDamone said:
Point is it's not gone, and mandates being lifted are for political expediency. I know many nurses who said masks were bullshit in most situations and I know some who lost their jobs over vaccine mandates.Goduckies said:Yes they are transitioning to a new system. IT guys have been here all week... and i trust the nurses that are no longer wearing their masks as much over you.
If you believe masks made any measurable difference, you believe a lie. Look no further than deaths by state and rationalize states that did very little as far as mandates/lockdowns go and those that lockdown hard.
I answer I’d rather be Utah than Washington, which has an even lower death rate than Washington and had very little mask mandates and has low vaccine uptake in general.
There are tons of one on one comparables that can make points for both sides. But on the whole that just means there is no correlation between policy and outcomes. So you and I were right.

This weekend two years ago I published the first ad in the Star Tribune expressing alarm at the policies adapted to fight the Covid-19 epidemic. The themes set forth in that ad have guided my education and advocacy efforts and my subsequent columns in that newspaper from the start of the epidemic. And the concerns expressed and the rationales for those concerns have been largely proven correct.
Respiratory virus transmission is impossible to stop — a lesson New Zealand, Hong Kong and China are still learning. Attempts to suppress the spread are futile. Such measures usually lead to unintended (perhaps, but certainly predictable) consequences that can be more devastating than the virus itself.
Normal life is upended, worsening health for those who are most ill, isolating the already lonely elderly, destroying educational and social development for children, leading to more drug and alcohol abuse and greater mental health issues. These harms go on for years and decades. None of this was mysterious or unknown. Any thoughtful, calm, rational response would have recognized these basic facts and issues. But instead we were served a hysterical, lemming-like overreaction which in the end did not protect most of the population from being infection or many from serious disease.
On behalf of the public, I would like an apology from those responsible for the disastrous handling of the epidemic response. -
Some of us knew this in April 2020. No study needed.WestlinnDuck said:

Clearly this was politicized from day 1. Anything to sink Trump. He was unbeatable until March of 2020. The strength of the economy made him so. As soon as it was realized by the media and leftist politicians that they could possible ride this to victory in November, it was set. Now add some racial charged riots for 120 straight days and you have a real winner for the left. -
I was 200 pounds at the start of the great pandemic. Not obese but overweight. 160 to 180 is recommendedMikeDamone said:
Of all the shit the health “experts” and politicians trotted out…Lockdown, stay home, get multiple shots, don’t take horse meds, wear two masks….the ONE thing controllable thing that contributed the most to the morality is obesity. Did any of these assholes ever push this at all…no, they shut down gyms, golf, parks and beaches. Then fat obese fucks would lecture us on how those who disagreed with mandates where putting their lives in danger. Fuck the fuck off.Doogles said:

So I dropped 40 and have holding steady at 160. Lots of sun on my walks for vitamin D

If you get sick please don’t take a hospital bed. It’s immoral. Make sure a fat fuck with diabetes and 3 shots gets it.RaceBannon said:

We're nearly always right. The left is almost always wrong. They lie.Bob_C said:
Age adjusted California, Illinois and Florida are all right next to each other in death rate. The lock down paradise of Michigan is about 20% higher than that group.RaceBannon said:Florida has lots of old people
Georgia, New York, New Jersey and Ohio are all about 40% higher than the Florida group. It’s all a hot mess, which means we were right. -
So 180 people got it but none are in the hospitals... got it... again this is coming from people who worked in the hospital that was inundated with covid two months ago.MikeDamone said:

Also, the case count is spiking…Bigly
Seams that Omicron really is a cold. -
There are 30 in hospitals, so not none. More will likely be admitted soon. That’s how it works. You’re missing the point. Nothing has really changed. Cases are still high. People are still in hospitals. The numbers are similar to the last several months when we were locked down. What changed? The “science” didn’t change. The political winds changed. The virus will virus. We still have covid, always will. Political turds used it for political purposes. Now they are easing mandates for political purposes. When it becomes advantageous to lock down again, they will. The numbers will justify it at any point in time.Goduckies said:

Your argument seems to be politicians and public health experts really nailed it with their policies and now we are finally over it. -

30 in hospital in the panhandle which is 5 counties... none in the hospital I pick nurses up at. Had the conversation again tonight with one...MikeDamone said:

Also numbers are not high cases dropped from 800k to about 30k... that isn't high.
And no my point was that we are over it... had nothing to do with who's policies were correct or not.. I prefer the approach of over 65 or fat or diabetes ans you need to be very very very careful... if not live your life.
