Exactly. You look at the deaths by state and you can’t correlate them with mandates. There are other variables to consider. For example, when saying Florida has a worse outcome then Washington, no one is adjusting for the age of the population. I answer I’d rather be Utah than Washington, which has an even lower death rate than Washington and had very little mask mandates and has low vaccine uptake in general.
There are tons of one on one comparables that can make points for both sides. But on the whole that just means there is no correlation between policy and outcomes. So you and I were right. -

When you factor in the average age of the people living in California and Florida there's hardly any difference in the death rates between the two states.
