The only thing I know about the Ukraine is
1- Stalin transplanted a ton of Russians into the region in the mid 30's
2- the eastern part is strong lean to Russia
3 - The duly elected government of the Ukraine is still very corrupt even after ousting the previously duly elected government
4 - Our government (I mean people in our government) have made tons of $$$$$ on the Ukraine
5- Putin wants his Russian patriots in the Ukraine back - guess it is easier to take over the country than to relocate them as illegal immigrants
