So, Michigan State has no chance...
-
UCLA was picked by Corso, Howard, and Herbie ...
They're fucked. -
Their game at Oregon will be a hell of a game.

Seems like a lot of people "in the know" think that Oregon's a bit on the overrated side from what I'm hearing
-
Every team in the PAC 12 except UW is overrated. I don't mean that to be a doog either, but UW is at least a top 25 team. Being ranked somewhere between 20-25 is right on.
UCLA and Stanford aren't top 10 teams. Stanford's schedule is too brutal and UCLA is marginally better than UW. Somehow Anthoy Barr, Marsh, Zumwalt, their best OL, and their best WR are getting glossed over. Their OL is still young and sucked last year. Good team, certainly a top 20 team, but not a title contender.
Oregon has the talent, but borderline imploded last year. They got blown out by Arizona, beat a bad Oregon State team by 1, an scored one TD against a lifeless Mack Brown coached Texas. I don't think any PAC 12 team makes the playoffs, and it won't be from getting screwed either. -
I can see it if they can beat
anTHE Ohio State. It's not crazy. -
@RoadDawg55
You make a number of good points.
On paper, Oregon's got the best schedule in the conference and is set up to be in the Final Four. But at the same time, I don't know of anybody that has a ton of confidence in Helfrich and nobody really seems to mention that they have literally nobody to throw the ball to. Part of their success running the ball is teams having to worry about getting beat over the top. If they aren't worried about that, an extra guy is able to get into the box and blow up their east/west running game.
In the end, Stanford's really good but their schedule is ridiculous. Road games against UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Arizona State, and Notre Dame means that they will probably end up losing a couple of games.
UCLA seems to be all smoke and mirrors to me. They get no real breaks schedule wise as they have to play at Arizona St and Washington and have Stanford and Oregon at home. While they are a favorite to win the South, that means that they'll have to go through Stanford, Oregon, or UW again.
In all honesty, I'm not sure that I see any PAC team getting through the conference undefeated and even a 2-loss team could be what it takes to win a division. The "perception" of the conference from the East and South (SEC! SEC! SEC!) isn't strong enough IMO to be able to have a 2-loss PAC team make it in. -

Final Score: Oregon 30, Texas 7. Did Alabama want to be in the Sugar Bowl? No, so they got embarrassed. Did Oregon want to be playing for the Rose Bowl after all the hype that we would be in the championship? No, so we got embarrassed and didn't show up to play. You seem to be forgetting that Mariota was playing injured the latter half of the season. Also, UCLA is more than marginally better than UW. UW has got a lot of shit to prove still.RoadDawg55 said:Every team in the PAC 12 except UW is overrated. I don't mean that to be a doog either, but UW is at least a top 25 team. And this is why Oregon is a bunch of fucking losers ... instead of going to a Rose Bowl and playing good competition they'd rather get their asses kicked by Arizona and get to spend their December in San Antonio.oregonblitzkrieg said:

How do you know that UCLA is only marginally better than UCLA if they haven't played yet? How do you know that Mora isn't in the process of raising that team to the next level?RoadDawg55 said:Every team in the PAC 12 except UW is overrated. I don't. The season hasn't even started, so that would be impossible. It's just my opinion based on what I saw last year and what both teams return this year. We will see if it comes true. I'm a Mora fan, but nowhere near the level you are.DerekJohnson said:

Obviously UW has a lot to prove. So does UCLA. Nice quooking. You've eaten too many magic mushrooms to analyze football. I think Oregon is the most talented team, but you'd have to be PDXDuckFanFS to not be at least a little concerned about the end of your season. Mariota's injury had nothing to do with Stanford, Arizona, and OSU running all over your defense. Alliota to Pellum I guess. New year, new attitude. All the Duck players have talked about the difference.oregonblitzkrieg said:

Helfrich sucks too. There are aberrations where a shitty coach still wins big. You guys aren't 2001 Miami though. Coaching matters and your coach sucks. He was a disaster as an OC at Colorado and Bill Fleenor could be a good OC under Chip Kelly. -
The pac-12 is overrated this year. It is getting respect for the past few years but no team is going to make the playoff.
Oregon is a Mariotta injury from being in real trouble. They have to play Michigan St, UCLA and then UW after UCLA. Those are two very very physical teams and if UW's front 7 is as good as neutral observers think (best in conference) then that will be another tough matchup. -
I have no idea how good anyone is this year. I'll just say that it's great to have the season just beginning instead of it already being over.

Regardless of outcome, Oregon and MSU will kick the living shit out of each other. That's what I would be worried about if I was a Duck fan.
-
I like the Cougs this year
-
Mich State's schedule is pretty much cake. If they can somehow pull out a win at Oregon, I could see them going undefeated the rest of the way. They get Nebraska, Michigan, and Ohio State's backup QB at home. The rest of the games aren't even worth talking about it.

Michigan State will probably not even be in the playoff conversation in two weeks unless Mariotta's leg falls off.

Hi Sven! -
I actually disagree. It's a very good conference with a lot of good teams. That's why I think every team loses at least one conference game. The Big 12, Big 10, and ACC don't have anywhere near the amount of quality teams the Pac 12 does. Every team in the Pac 12 has a much tougher conference schedule than Oklahoma or Michigan State. Florida State's toughest conference game every year is against Clemson and Dabo Fucking Swinney. The Pac 12 is far from a dreckfest and is the 2nd best conference by a fairly large margin.TierbsHsotBoobs said:
