    NOGAF about McCartney anymore.

I certainly do not and there's no bigger Beatle fan here than Yella.

But in terms of lasting influence on music and pop culture among living musicians I'm not sure who you put ahead of McCartney. Dylan??

Elvis and Sinatra are long since dead. All the other Classic Rock icons still alive are behind McCartney.

Did you know Paul was in band before Wings?

He is on Mt. Rushmore, but his time is long past. Biggest living celebrity today is probably LeBron James given the NBA's popularity globally. Hollywood seems to be dead right now.

Mt Rushmore of 20th century music is Elvis, Sinatra, Beatles and not sure who else...Bing Crosby maybe?

King James is a goof ball but I guess there's a lotta sports dorks out there.

I'm open to hear some opinions here, but I've always thought that combo of Lenin/McCartney was a once in forever magic that neither could ever approach individually.

Possibly. Not the pop icon of an Elvis or Frankie but similar level of influence on the course of 20th music history.

He had #1 hits in five or six decades. He knocked The Beatles out of the #1 spot in the 1960s before his death. He changed the whole concept of rythym in music, which is expressed to this very day. His music isn't my thing, but I see how there's no Charlie Parker without Louis, just like there's no John Coltrane without Charlie Parker.

I think Lennon was able to match his Beatles level song writing for a few years on his first 2 solo albums. McCartney not quite as much by still pretty good through 1973.

I think 1970 and 71 Beatles albums would have been among their best.

I would say Kanye is the biggest current celebrity. Not the most liked, don’t twist.

Despite my poasting history, I'm actually not trying to make this political ... However,

How are Donald Trump or Barak Obama not the "World's Biggest Celebrities"? Those two get quite the reception everywhere they go.

Must we keep this to entertainers or athletes?

Can't help but agree. I bet Trump has the most recognized face and voice in the world.

Drake might be bigger than Kanye now, but as @dnc said, I'd bet most elite soccer players are more renowned.

Beyond that, my next guess would be someone like a Kardashian (ugh), the Rock, or Elon Musk. As big as sports are, most people don't care about them, particularly internationally.
