Petersen to UW from Boise State > Don James from Kent State.mobey said:Why are people excited?
Let's take a stroll down memory lane.
DJ followed by Lambo followed by Neu followed by Gilby followed by Ty followed by Sark.
Petersen, at least on paper, is the best coach we've had since DJ.
Remember when DJ got here, one concern was he couldn't recruit good enough players but he sure could develop them. And as the team got better, so did the recruits.
I realize different eras, but I am drinking to the prospect that Petersen excels as the next, real HC at UW.

Unlucky for you that Petersen isn't from Houston. You could change your handle to HoustonDoog and stick around to rub our noses in sark when Petersen fails, which as a former BSU coach he is sure to do. Too bad for doogs that UW couldn't have hired a new head football coach from such an obscure, unknown place as Kent State....... or Houston CC.

Pretty fun to look back at people's concerns about Petersen soon after he was hired, especially related to his recruiting and assistant coaches.

We will be calling for his head on a platter. Our patience may even wear out after two years, given the preposterously easy schedule.
The man at the podium of that press conference looked happy and ready to take on a challenge. I did not see Charles Grodin up there wearily fielding questions.
College Doog summed it up perfectly- UW showed that it really wants to win and will take steps to get there. If Petersen doesn't work out, then the days of rationalizing mediocrity are over. Bring on the next coach! (Speaking of which, what's the buyout on Mora's contract in 2016?)

Nobody paying attention should have allusions about the AP preseason poll meaning anything more than surplus print hanging on the inside wall of a wind blown one-holer out on the Palouse

Why? Are we now celebrating off season natties again?whatshouldicareabout said:Pretty fun to look back at people's concerns about Petersen soon after he was hired, especially related to his recruiting and assistant coaches.
I'm a numbers guy...don't regret my concerns one bit. Still have them. Hawkins and Koetter were both pretty sh!tty hires and they came from the same place with the same rep. Some numbers guy wrote an entire article on this a few days ago:

That being said, so far Peterman looks like he's got his sh!t together and has been doing the right things. I'm hopeful, but I'll wait on going full doog until a couple 10+ win seasons or so.
