  Idk where I heard 7 million being thrown around earlier but that seems unrealistic. But, they absolutely need to nail the assistants for this hire, so who knows.

  There's a disconnect happening. Most sites are expecting Boner will bring over most of his FSU staff. Meanwhile everyone here is doogin hard about how much wad we can blow in assistants. WTF difference does it make how much he overpays his current staff?

  Imagine being hired by an AD that told the media that money isn’t an issue, getting hugged left and right by Carol Baskin, and having the media ask Jen at your press conference what gives since SC hired Lincoln Riley, and you only get $3 million a year when $7-$10 million a year is the going rate.

  Mel “fucking” Tucker is getting 9.5 mill a year to get his stool pushed in by Ohio State but this is about the long game and only a REAL man can bet on himself big by forgoing 4 million a year in the beginning.

  I think this is great as long as some have eluded to that a huge chunk is going towards assistants. If Deboer succeeds quickly that number will shoot up very fast. It isn't like Deboer was being mentioned at a bunch of jobs so that is why we got him for the cheap because he isn't proven at this level.

  You don’t pay 5-7 million unless you have to. If DeBoer has any success he will get bumped up to that range.

  This. I’d also add the CFB North Star - coaches are massively overpaid versus the quality of output and players efforts. Rare is the coach who adds value… you can count them with two hands. The rest suck. Good for them but it’s a joke.
