Huskies were ranked 5th and 6th by the real poles going into the Rose Bowl.
#5/6 UW beats #1 Minnesota.
Two teams ranked ahead of UW won their bowl games as well. (Missouri and #2 Mississippi)
A couple of teams ranked ahead of UW didn’t play in bowl games that season as there were only 9 bowls, including #3 Iowa.
Los Angeles Bakery (And only Los Angeles Bakery) has Washington leapfrog all of them into the Betty Crocker Pancake Mix #1 spot.
That’s the history I don’t know about. -
