One of the many quaint beliefs the Left has about the US is that it's a relatively low-tax country

Paid 42% tax rate in Sweden, got free health care, free full time childcare (8:30am to 4pm), and $100 a month unlimited metro card.

US I get taxed 28% and get toll roads

I get taxed a lot more than 28% and still get toll roads.
    Bullshit. No you don’t.
I'm really disappointed in you ladies. This is one of your favorite subjects, that we're not taxed enough. Did your booster shot have some side effects?
There is zero chance any of you gals pays 28% of your income in taxes. Basic math fail.
    Agree. It’s much more

24% federal tax bracket on $142k is about and %18 effective tax rate. Add about 15% for FICA and Medicare and you’re at %33. We haven’t talked about property, state, and sales tax yet.

    So fuck off.

You can't claim that the US is a low tax country though, as was the original point of the discussion.
Certainly not low taxed if we consider the imagined rates you all pay.

You don’t want to pay European tax rates and you don’t receive European benefits. You especially don’t want me paying European rates . . . ‘cuz socialism, of course.
Why do you think we just need more taxes?
Because the money is already spent.
So you agree that more taxes is a stupid idea.
Sure. You’ll all turn down your entitlements for the common good, right?
    Still missing the point.
The point of a guy deciding to live in Europe because he gets more benefits.
The point is that despite the US having high taxes, there are less benefits. Would you pay more for a product that was of inferior quality? Thought you were a bidnessman.
High taxes? Counter factual. Most of you have an effective tax rate below (if not well below) 20%.

Still focused only on federal income tax?

And likes to ignore %15 for FICA/Medicaid. Which is federal.

Wait wait wait, are we going to go with how the lower class doesn't actually pay taxes? Is that where you want to go?

Oh please oh please oh please let's do it.

Not at all. I assume most of you also take advantage of at least some of the obvious ways to legally reduce your tax burden.

No. But most of you start this discussion off by wildly overestimating your effective rate of federal taxation.

Divide line 24 by line 9.
