I wonder how much time does Mike Hopkins spend on ft shooting in practices? Also, can Mike Hopkins identify good shooters (FG/FT/3FG) when recruiting players and/or develop them into shooters? Bey, Bajema and Roberts look pretty much the same the players- how well does Mike Hopkins develop players that stay 3-4 years in the program? Is Riley Sorn, who was on the bench in street clothes, injured? His size in the paint would have helped out a lot against a smallish NIU team.
The UW's next opponent, Northern Arizona, lost 81-52 to Arizona tonight. The UW should beat NAU on Thursday but I thought the same concerning tonight's opponent.

I'm still not certain what they are doing on offense. I've seen some off ball screens but it's run poorly.

Kim doesn’t know shit about what a good basketball team looks like in practice.
He equates hustle to on court success. Never mind the eye candy test, the coaching, the shooting progress or the low post presence.
We have no shooters
We have no post presence.
Only way to raise our ceiling is 40 minutes of hell and a flex offense.
Otherwise we will struggle to be .500 even struggle to win 10 games.
This team is chock full of wing men with a midget PG and a PF who can hit the ocean.
The only thing I enjoyed was the effort and the extended d to push the tempo.
But if NIU can break the d imagine what a good team can do. We have to be more disciplined with the pressure d and install a motion offense because there is. I body to shoot or post and the lanes are just congested because of that.
We are in trouble. I do see a glimmer of hope but that hope is a 10 man rotation with full court defense with Wilson being a point d aka Bobby Jones so we can get his length and athleticism on the floor. Add the motion or flex offense and we just might put together a .500 season amd a few upsets -

Thought Terrell Brown looked like a player.
Davis, Matthew’s, and Bey all had absolute stinkers. Bajema was invisible.
Offensive in the half court looked stagnant. Press looked good, that’s about it. If I’m trying to be an optimist hopefully this cold shooting night was an aberration and the team gels with more experience together. Most likely it’s going to be a long season but the investigation into if this team sucks will continue for a few more games. So far all signs point to yes.
Also NIU with dagger three pointers anytime they really needed to stop the momentum. Brutal. -
This team will be better than last year. They still don’t have one guy that is any better on offense than a #3-4 option on a good team. They are going to struggle to score all year.

They are much more athletic than last year but Hop isn't like your coach where he can just throw a juco/transfer roster together. Mike Hopkins is coaching for his job this season. He will play an 8 man rotation against better teams and in closer games talent wise. He has shown that during his 5 seasons at Montlake. He doesn't develop the depth very well during the OOC schedule. For example Hopkins knew that Quade Green was going to be academically ineligible weeks in advance and didn't even develop back up pg Elijah Hardy to take over in the meantime just burned Marcus Tsohonis redshirt and Marcus wasn't even a true point guard like Hardy.ReignMan said:

I like the athletes and the roster turnover (Thanks Will) they were able to achieve, but without being able to shoot 3's, they are in trouble. He brings in new asst, but obviously does not listen to them. His Rotations still suck, they still look clueless on offense and play a 1980's style Defense. Hop will not survive, because he is a shitty coach.
