Zuby is my dude.

Deeper than his point is that social media facilitates people seeking out groups who all think alike and attempt to destroy those who don't agree. I've been saying for close to 10 years now that social media is what is destroying the country. Not really a hot take, but they need to be dismantled.

Social media reveals who we are it doesn't shape who we are
Like internet football fans - fans have always wanted to fire the coach after every loss they just didn't have anywhere to say it. Now they do -
I've always believed I was a he/she sexual demi-God with a unicorn horn for a dong, and now I have a safe place to espouse my truth! I NEED MY OWN BATHROOMZ! LABEL THEM ZEDEMIDICK!RaceBannon said:Social media reveals who we are it doesn't shape who we are

There's always been the Nation on one side and the WSJ on the other. This isn't such a new phenomenon.BleachedAnusDawg said:Deeper than his point is that social media facilitates people seeking out groups who all think alike and attempt to destroy those who don't agree. Being online multiple hours of the day, and constantly connected via news notifications on your iPhone - That's the problem.
Nobody has time to think or reflect. So they just spew. -
Anonymity of the internet enables a lot of it, for sure. I get that there's always been a Hatfield and McCoys thing in the US. Social media platforms almost solely exist to exploit that phenomenon. Being able to remain anonymous while also spewing hate/misinformation and have it seen instantly by thousands or millions of people all at once. Gee, what could go wrong? I don't know how anyone could argue that disbanding social media would be bad for the US.TurdBomber said:

People tend to think of Cronkite as a centrist and news as being straight back in the day but he wasn't and it wasn't. Nowhere near to what it is today but it was a monopoly and that isn't goodBleachedAnusDawg said:

The WaPO and NY Times and the three networks covered the same stories each day and what they didn't cover was as important as what they did
Rush Limbaugh earned the absolute hatred he received by ending the monopoly and exposing the managed consent. Managed consent had been a thing in the 60's but as we would find out the 60's "radicals" didn't really want to fight the power they wanted to control it
And they would without the internet. They already try to rewrite or ignore history that shows them to be hypocrites or worse. You have AXIO scrubbing old issues off the net.
