Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
It is abundantly clear to us fans, so it is damn sure clear to current players, current coaches, the AD, and future player prospects. John Donovan is perhaps the worst OC in all of football. Something has to be done. Fucking Montana defeated his scheme. Michigan put 8-9 guys in the box all day. It's so fucking obvious.
The 4th and 4 draw play was the pinnacle of his ineptitude. It's almost like the dude wants to be fired.
The reason I say HOPE is that it's so clear that a mistake has been made that something will happen. The team does have talent. If the change isn't made, they are risking the entire program and ultimately athletic department funding. A 2-3 win season will set washington back 10 years. Those in charge have to know this. The butts won't be in the seats. The athletic department has bills to pay.
Don't twist, though - Lake is the ultimate problem. The firing of Donovan is the only thing you can really do at this point. Lake gets evaluated later...

Jimmy always said he wanted a pro-style offense. He said that, then he found a guy who would run it for him. No one wanted to run it for him except the Assistant RB coach of the JAGs.
Jimmy also doesn't have any connections outside the program. That's why every change he's made besides JD is promoting from within
Something must be done
Defund sport
That can also be a result of scheme, though. A couple of times I was paying attention, I noticed that double-teaming interior linemen were failing to disengage and get to the second level. Zone blocking doesn't work if you're only blocking three out of six guys... I'm firmly on the "maybe Huff sucks" bandwagon, but also fear that the players just aren't that good.
Which is to say it might not be so easy to just hire a new OC and make everything instantly better. There's some shit play-calling, sure, but that's such bog standard UW at this point that I can't even get upset about it. Everything outside of play-calling takes way too much time to change to be implementing mid-season. That's why coaches are always coach-speaking "clean things up a little" and "tweak things a bit." Because that's really all they can do in-season.
I think the offense needs to completely change to match the personnel. Bynum and Taj Davis are actually really rucking good. McMillan can be a threat. Rumor has it there's a whole stable of AMAZING running backs. The OL is weak, though, and they run a minimum two-TE set even though none of UW's tight ends can really block. It's FS. Fixing that is a big job.
Did Petersen really support and encourage this hiring, he had to know.
Do you see this changing?
Try and put your desire for sport in its proper context.
Upper campus has but they can only do so much. Try to meet them half way.
"Poor blocking scheme and technique or way-less-talented-than-billed linemen trying to execute said scheme and techniques"
After Fetters wrote his Scott Huff tweet, Toni Softli undressed the OL physically which leads to reach, cheating, gambling on techniques/fundamentals trying to steal the win against the guy your trying to block etc.
I believe our 6th year center gets pushed into the rb or qb once a quarter.
Judges would have also accepted "starfish".
Although Id prefer Danielle Lawrie
