Guess he had to learn some Californian leadership skills in order to do that.

LSU is 5-6 in their last 11 games including a loss to UCLA.

LSU is the defending national champion, pal.
-
It was more the way that our Bruins matched up physically with the Tigers. Whipped them up front on offense and defense. That's what Chip couldn't do at Oregon

What a bizarre narrative.
By the time he left Oregon, they were smashing the actual defending national champions in the Rose Bowl with the Mark Helfrich calling the shots.
LSU lost to Missouri and Mississippi State, last year.
-
As I recall they got run by Ohio State as usual
More to come -

You don’t seem to know much about Chip Kelly and his time at Oregon . . . Why don’t you STFU and educate yourself?coronabruin said:If Chip Kelly could beat SEC teams while he was at Oregon.

“Californian leadership skills . . . “
That’s an oxymoron.
Dude was the real deal the day he came to Oregon as the OC.
See Oregon’s game at the Big House in 2007,
See Oregon game at Washington in 2007.
He turned Dennis Dixon into a star as a senior, until Dixon tore his ACL against Arizona near the end of the season.
Dixon had ended his junior year benched and distraught. -
I’m sure he’ll manage to lose to Ohio State at UCLA as well if he ever manages to win the conference again.RaceBannon said:As I recall they got run by Ohio State as usual

Things Chip Kelly did at Oregon: 3 conf titles in 4 years, national title game appearance, two NY6 bowel wins, got Mark Helfrich laid.
Things he’s done at UCLA: beat 5-5 LSU at home.
Dumbest narrative that’s not a narrative I’ve ever heard.

The comment was on his inability to beat the SEC
Or win it all -
Won a Rose Bowl . . .
The school that has hired Karl Dorrell, a WR coach; Rick Neweasel (third time around); and Jim Mora, Jr.
The last “decent” head coach UCLA had was Bob Toledo in the 90’s.
Yeah, Chip learned “Californian leadership skills” in Los Angeles.
Idiot
BTW: Chip never played SEC teams at home (that I recall). Oregon did beat the fuck out of Tennessee at Rocky Top with Chip Kelly as either OC or Head Coach. -
Chip is better than Mario
And obviously Jimmy -

If we’re going to talk about beating bad SEC teams as a feather in his cap, he beat Tennessee on the road while at Oregon. Their worst home defeat in school history. They sucked. So does LSU.RaceBannon said:The comment was on his inability to beat the SEC

Win a division and then pop off.
I’ll love Chip Kelly until the day I die. Your narrative is stupid as fuck.

Next time you come around pounding your chest about UCLA football, remember a certain coach at little Boise State was smart enough to turn down the head coaching job at UCLA more than once.coronabruin said:LSU is the defending national champion, pal.
Where did your fans disappear to when Chip was losing?
Initially, it looked like Chip’s heart wasn’t in it. Mass defections from the team . . . Ass kickings.
The only reason Chip took the UCLA job is that his agent represents Under Armor and UA wanted a big name hire, thus Chip.
You think he saw UCLA as a great opportunity?
Get real, “pal”.
The guy is loaded.
UCLA was a challenge . . . -
The collective pants shitting in this conference is going to be hilarious when Diaz gets fired—> Mario to Miami—->chip back to Oregon, doubling his current salary but with a roster full of 4/5* kids (and not Justin Hoffman’s at Wr)
-
Chip is an enigma.
No predicting what he will do.
Injury status: “Day to day.”
No block, no rock. -

UCLA cares less about football (historically) than the current regime in Seattle. -
If Chip were to get them rolling, UCLA and more importantly millions in SoCal would start caring about college football. You'd start seeing full stadiums and a lot of interest in UCLA football if he were to get them winning. They aren't like Stanford where even when they were winning they couldn't fill their stadium.trublue said:

Please don’t do this to me. We’ve been through the Chips coming back thing before. Lot of LSU fans helped but LA loves a winner -
Any program that's in the largest media market in the country and one of the top recruiting areas in the country can't be considered a backwater. UCLA like nearly every other sports organization in LA suffers from being in a town of front runners. If Chip got UCLA winning you'd see massive "support" from the media and the fans in LA. I lived there in 1998 when they were undefeated and ranked number 2. They packed the Rose Bowl. Now imagine Chip is able to do that for two or 3 years in a row.ntxduck said:

It’s the COVID era.
UCLA has never been a football first school.
There are a lot of other things to do in LA.
They have two NFL teams . . . USC, etc.
Most of all, I would be shocked if Chip is at UCLA in a couple of years.
The only place he has stayed for a long time as a coach was New Hampshire, then Oregon. -
Probably a ton of LSU fans who traveled despite Hurricane Ida.RaceBannon said:

I was there . . . I know. Long ago and far away in time.
I went to many Oregon games at the Rose Bowl with my brother during the 90’s.
1998 - Bob Toledo, HC, former Oregon OC. Cade McKnown, QB, from West Linn HS.
Akili Smith @ QB. Reuben Droughns ran for 172 yards and 1 TD despite fracturing his right fibula during the game, an injury that forced him to miss the rest of the season.
Nick Aliotti was DC at UCLA that one year.
Toledo fired him at the end of the season cuz he was mediocre and cost them a potential National Championship.
Nick came crawling back to his buddy, Mike Belotti and we endured his mediocre bullshit until Chip came.
Chip brought in Azzinaro as D-Line coach and he became the de facto DC while Chip was gracious and gave Aliotti the credit.
BTW, UCLA lost in the Rose Bowl to Wisconsin.
Toledo eventually got fired, followed by Karl Dorrell, Jim Mora, Jr., Rick Neweasel et al.

Nice run in the 90’s, particularly against USC.

LSU won the Natty in 2020 BCS game (2019 season).
They went 3-4 last year (2020) during the COVID shortened season.
“The coaching staff was overhauled after last years massive disappointment” . . . per a LSU publication.
Come back here and crow at the end of the season, PAL.
